But still the problem with that statement could mean anywhere from 5 copies to 5 million.  And I know SE isn't obliged to give out specifics, but if you're going to say you made money, give us some better idea how.

Does it even matter? What we knw for sure that 1 million extra copy  and every future sale is pure profit for SE

Ultimately, no.  But since profitability is the subject, it would be nice to know.

SE will not put out numbers to fuel forum debates

Part of my concern is that as development costs go up, it's normally passed to the consumer.  And I'm not going to dictate what a developer should spend.  I just hope that the more this is moderated it would help minimize the rate of rising costs across the board.  This will help smaller developers maintain a more affordable development cycle so they can continue to keep pushing out titles to their audiences.

Amazing news, congrats Square Enix!

Moderated by whom?

Maybe it will make enough profit to cover the costs of World of Final Fantasy too.

Maybe enough to make another game like it in the future.

Maybe I'm dreaming

Themselves.

Great news. They deserve it. They actually managed to turn around a shipwreck of a franchise with FFXIV ARR, FFXV and WoFF. Keep up the good work SE, and youl see cash flowing in

oh, was WoFF also a project in trouble? Had no idea about that.

I like WoFF, its a different kind of game compared to mainline FF for sure but still fun to play, just a bit too easy.

If a developer put in a large amount of money and then made it back and more, like 15, what exactly needs to be moderated? It is not SE's responsibility to create an environment for other developers, and as consumers it's our job to vote with our wallets.

He means that those games helped to restore a positive image of Final Fantasy franchise.
