We'll find out come April. Switch will almost certainly have a good launch month, it's whether it maintains that initial success for the following months that will be interesting.

Really?

If Switch stays sold out, it won't be because of demand. You can place your bets on the explanation being that Nintendo is trying to create artificial demand by providing low supply.

Like Sony did with the PS4?

Yep. Some people will find any reason to try and downplay Nintendo success. If Switch sells amazingly, the usual excuse from these people in an attempt to try to downplay it will be "b-but no shit they sold well when they barely sent any cause they are making artificial demand !!11!".

Not correct. You can't fake the numbers at the end of the day so we'll know in the months after launch whether it's doing well.

And you are surely one too admit it. I'm very excited to see your reaction either way. You have no real interest in Switch or anything by Nintendo I guess, but in talking to it's fanbase you have a big interest.

Microsoft, "faked" numbers when they said each XBOX 360 console they sent out in replacement of RRoD consoles were actually consoles, "sold" so it is possible to fake numbers. Not that I think Nintendo will do that, just saying it is possible.

That isn't true and is simply one of those stupid internet myths. RRoD replacements were not counted as sales. Not to mention many of the replacements weren't even new machines they were refurbs.

back on topic though I think the hype is a little weak, hopefully Switch won't just have a couple of good months and will be a hit for them, I would hate to see Nintendo have another failure as I have a lot of fond memories of many hours of Mario games

We should find out by January 2018, I'd hesitate to make an assumption based on sales prior to that.

It'll almost certainly sell-out at launch, I expect it to have a few lackluster months following that however, but then a big resurgence for the holidays.

So until after it's first holidays, I wouldn't want to make an assumption on it's success, or how many people are hyped for the thing.

I remember reading an article back then that stated the consoles were counted as sales until the company was caught. Once caught they revised the numbers... oh well, that is what I get for trusting people paid to get my clicks. If it really is not true, my bad.

For me, i am hyped for new zelda, new fire emblem, new xenoblade, but find switch awfull

So far it LOOKS like Wii all over again. Back before it launched, most of "gaming" community laughed it off like it was some joke. None of us thought it had a chance in hell. People bitched about it being unpowered, behind the times, too gimmick based etc. But when it launched, the rest of the world went nuts for it and it won an entire generation.

Will the Switch win the 9th generation? I don't know. But it's already looking like an exact template of that system.

Switch is seeing a lot of mixed criticizm lately. Some of it is justified in my opinion while other bits are minor quibbles. However, I just watched this video and at 9:16... wow. That is Wii level right there. Is the hype more real than I expected?

Means very little. There are plenty of die-hard Nintendo fans who'd by a frozen turd if it had the Nintendo logo on it. What matters is whether the Switch can draw in new customers to the Nintendo userbase. Due to it's high price, lack of appealing Western games, and absolute lack of power, my answer is "lol no chance".

I'm certainly looking forward to it. Would love a handheld WiiU+.
