Im going to say the ps3 because it will probably have a prive drop and there are some really good exclusives coming out in the fall. When MGS4 comes out i see Sony have supply problems. I feel that GTA IV will be more of a system seller for the ps3.

This one is interesting. Both will sell amazing amounts. But if Nintendo can't increase production, then don't be surprised if it has the same Holiday numbers as it did last year. SONY on the other hand, isn't really supply constrained and will definitely increase its sales number. But even then, I do find it hard for the PS3 to outsell the Wii unless they were priced very similar. But it will decrease its gap thats for sure.

So are Sony fans officially moving the goal post and retracted 2008 as the "Year of the PS3" and trying to move it to 2009 now?

If the PS3 is at $299.99 by then(40gb) I see it going to the PS3. Otherwise its either going to be very close or one slightly above the other, or wii destroying the ps3 again.

Im going to go with my prediction that wii sales would drop, and expect the PS3 to be ahead.

Holiday season sales tend to fall between 35% and 45% of a system's yearly hardware sales ... If hardware sales continue at their current ratio, the PS3 sells 45% of its yearly hardware in the holiday season, and the Wii sells 35% of its yearly hardware in the holiday season the PS3 would still only sell 85% as much hardware as the Wii would.

 ummm.. I don't think any sane person would say the PS3 will dominate the Wii in 08. When we say "year of the PS3" we just mean the PS3 will dominate the 360 in 08. The Wii is a vastly different machine from the PS3 and both can co-exist peacefully. We just need to work together to shove M$ deeper into the mud.

OT: If the PS3 gets to $299 w/either GT5, GOW3, or FFXIII releasing before 09, it will give the Wii a serious run for its money. Otherwise, the Wii will win hands down, though probably not by quite as much as last year percentage-wise.

PS3 will because it has great games coming out this year and price will drop before christmas sometime.

the only wii games this year are SSBB and Mario kart wii.

It's more or less a given that the Wii is going to trounce the competition again this
holiday season. They have more known trump cards left to them than MS or Sony do (such as a possible price drop when demand and supply are finally in equilibrium), and a significant number of potential unknown ones as well (such as their myriad of successful franchises yet to see a Wii iteration).
