April 24 2008 in japan

^_^
At this rate, PS3 could really end up selling less than the Gamecube in the end. Not saying that it will, but right now, those sales are terrible. FFXIII won't save it, as neither Mario, Zelda, Pokémons and co. saved the GC.
Well no good rpgs are out yet I think it will start selling in japan after this fall

^_^
Horrible PS3 numbers, some JRPG's, a smaller version and cheaper price should fix that though :D

They can't do that because the PS3 isn't doing all that great in Japan. The only console that is doing great in Japan is the Wii and that's the reason games like MH3 moved and Fatal Frame IV has been decided on the Wii and more Japanese-esque games will move to the Wii (Suikoden, etc.). Also a reason why you'll see a lot of Japanese devs move to the Wii. |
I dont know what to suggest for Sony though, they pushed a hell of a lot before the holiday season with a new colour and everything. The way it looks is that the PS3 will get a little boost back into life, carry that for a few weeks then die off again. I think the main problem is that the software released really is few and far between. They get a boost up to 40k, and it dies again because no new games are released when the momentum begins to die out.
Sony, give those developers lots of money that youre obviously willing to spend on the PS3 to release games OFTEN. It doesnt matter if theyre awful, its not impossible to make cheap games for the PS3, as long as they appeal to japan. How many games did the PS2 have that were just reruns and shovelware that never saw the light of day in western europe? Probably 50% of all successful games in japan for the console.

Sony is going to do fine in Japan, the problem is that they discontinued the 60 gig (or was it 40 gig?) model with backwards compatibility there. That was a huge mistake for Sony, but hopefully they will realize this before long. Even if they don't, they still have the potential to do much better.
This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*
Smaller, cuter, and more efficient is what Japanese like. The bigger problem with PS3 is that it does not fit that criteria more than not having enough of the games. PlayStation brand isn't dead as evidenced by the PSP.
I agree with Bladaneo. Sony should provide for more games on development costs like Disgaea.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Soriku said the same thing about the psp last year.

I'd say it's doomed at least for the first half of this generation. Keeping final reservations on the issue for smaller unit / Final Fantasy.
