Well of course.

We'd probably need 1000X faster hardware, some rendering breakthroughs, and much smarter engines to even come close.

Thus, I don't understand what your point was regarding Adam.

To point out we do still have a long way to go.

Adam does look pretty decent in screenshots.
When actually moving around an environment that is that void of detail; with characters, whose bodies behave in such an unrealistic manor.
Technical limitations are way more apparent.

Look at Robo Recall:
If you were to render a 4k screenshot of that game, it would look pretty decent.
When you are playing the game, getting close to the flat surfaces and low poly enemies (which the game encourages you to do so), the illusion falls apart quickly.

You're going far beyond the purpose of my posting it, though. ;p

It was just for visual reference.

Well, that's fair.

Regardless, Robo Recall should probably take the Resident Evil 7 spot.
I've not played RE7, but from screenshot of that game, and my experience with Robo Recall, I would put the former over the latter.

BotW gives me with it's artstyle a sort of Ghibli like feeling. Therefore it wins for me.

Considering the platforms, sure, but other than that, at least I'm not that impressed. Don't get me wrong - I think they look great, just not impressive compared to the very best. I'm not entirely sure what the problem is, but I think it might be lighting - especially with Uncharted. I looked some more videos and I think I picked a pretty bad video of Horizon last night. That is, it looked better now, but I think it still pales in comparison to Battlefront II.

Eh, things can look impressive, while not looking "the best". Battlefront II PC maxed out (this is key) is a good deal ahead of those games, but it doesn't make either of them unimpressive. There's a difference between that and unprecedented/unrivaled (which is what Battlefront II is).

Essentially, it is saying that no console games (original Gears of War, God of War III, Killzone 2 etc, etc...) have ever been impressive because there are always PC games that look better. Not a viewpoint I would endorse.

It seems we have a disagreement about what exactly 'impressive' means then. I guess it's subjective, as the word itself would suggest (I take 'impressive' quite literally, i.e. as something that impresses me, and neither Uncharted nor Horizon does).

The literal definition for impressive means to evoke admiration through quality, size, and/or skill. In this regard, both Horizon and Uncharted fit that bill. :p

From a personal standpoint, however, I also find that they are impressive considering very few games are quite on that level. I just put Battlefront II at the forefront of my awe and wonder.

If we are going by that definition: Xenoblade 2 fits pretty well.
Xenoblade 2 is the most impressive portable game I have seen to date.

Edit: I don't pay much attention to mobile gaming.

Going by the poll, seems this forum disagrees with us though. :P

But considering that the overwhelming majority of this forum are non-PC gamers, I guess the results aren't entirely unexpected.

I hate democracy. Its only redeeming feature is that all the alternatives seem even worse.

If HZD was on PC, do you think it could've taken the top spot?

Personally I think it looks too damn good for a PS4 game. Will easily age very well
