In that case I guess you're a sucker for Witcher 3. Also, I haven't heard anyone labeling Witcher 3 as immature or unrealistc.

thanks for saving me the time of copying and pasting those. Blood and Wine DLC was the first thing I thought of when I saw the city picture in the OP.

Is this supposed to be a dig at gritty games? Cuz there are plenty of vibrant photoreal games these days too.

I'm tired of games like bloodborne, doom and the arkham knight being labeled as realistic, when real life is not just about gritty and depressing shit. That's the point.

So you're saying you want more colorful games?, okay, here you go.

Those games get labeled realistic because life isn't all about vibrancy of color, most of the time colors are relatively muted, if you look out your window almost always the sky (if its a clear day) will be the most vibrant color you see, that's reflected in games, especially where tones and contrasts are used to deliver the desired atmosphere in a game, RE7 for example would be much less "scary" if you walked to a house with a full blooming garden and blue skies and a rightness of color everywhere.

As for Doom, isn't it set on mars?

Have you seen mars?

Oooh, is this a reaction to some people saying Horizon was more "mature" than Zelda?

no lol, I think Horizon is the kind of game that is realistic like these pictures, vibrant and beautiful. Plus I'm not talking about the content of the games, I'm talking about the aesthetics, for a lot of gamers "dark" means realistic and mature while "colorful" means artistic and sometimes too "colorful" but real life has colors too, so it's not "artistic" or too "colorful"

Oh my bad. The language was similar to what was used in another thread were someone got quite offended over the aforementioned conversation.

But yeah, I often find overly "gritty" games to be quite drab.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

those screenshots were real time rendered?

Woahwoahwoah... Bloodborne is actually VERY artistic.

Sure, but my number one rule is that it has to be fun or worthwhile playing it

Doom is actually an incredebly colorful game.

It's also not meant to be realistic.

Arkham Knight takes place... at night. Not much room for color in the dark.

TL;DR:

*makes post about how games need to be more realistic*

*shows example photos that have clearly been photoshopped and look more like Nintendo games*

*smirks to herself about how clever she thinks she's been, while ignoring existing realistic games with bright color palettes that would look less realistic if run on Nintendo hardware*

fin.
