Well most of those were old consoles back when gaming was kinda niche, so I don't count that.

Sound like cherrypicking, considering Atari VCS/2600 released in 1977 sold 30 million units. Lynx was released at the same time with GB, and Gameboy managed to top 100 million units in it's lifetime.

Anyway, the NES Mini costs only 79€ here, so it's kind of like having 30 games for pocket change.

No. NES Classic Edition will certainly remain popular in the short-term and then remain as a random xmas item for a few years, but I doubt it will reach 10MM, let alone 14MM. Granted, if it remains on shelves long enough, then probably, but not in the 5 years WiiU was around.

Perhaps 79 € for 30 ancient classics seems cheap for people living in their Nintendo bubble and are conditioned to Virtual Console prices.

I bought the SEGA MegaDrive Collection with almost 30 Sega classics for PSP/Vita for less than 4 € when it was on sale.

I also bought the Capcom Classic Collection Remixed and  Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded with almost 40 Capcom classics for PSP/Vita for less than 3 € each when they were on sale.

I also bought The Lost Treasures of Infocom for my iPad with almost 30 of Infocom's classic text adventures for less than 8 €.

A few months ago I bought the Humble Sierra Bundle for less than 20 €, which included almost all of Sierra's classic adventure series: 7 x King's Quest, 6 x Space Quest, 5 x Quest for Glory, 4 x Police Quest, 3 x Gabriel Knight, 2 x Phantasmagoria and a few others as well as the 2016 King's Quest reboot (without the new King's Quest it would have been less than 10 €).

And I had all of the NES Mini games on my PC 15 years ago for free. It is why you see AAA games selling for 60€ at retail, when you could get them for 5-20€ a while later. 

It is not about whether you get them cheaper or not, but the desirability of the product itself. Your collections/bundles did not come with hardware, I believe.
