That's certainly an unpopular opinon. xD

It has always been a mixed opinion to many.  Maybe not on this site but I've read from a number of members on this site that share the same feeling.

I don't think any franchise can be totally ruined. There's always a way back.

That said, a few games pop into my head as titles that sunk a lot of momentum.

Halo 4 - 343 focused on story, graphics, and world-building at the expense of level design, AI, and engaging gameplay. Cribbing so many features from Call of Duty turned out to be a big mistake

Halo 4 was one of those games that in the first 15 minutes of playing it, something about it felt really off. It had some good moments, but overall I felt like I was playing a game that only called itself Halo.

It's never too late for a franchise to redeem itself, so I don't think any game has effectively killed a franchise for me. However, there have been games that have put me off of certain franchises for a while.

-Assassin's Creed III. An entirely unlikeable main character, much less interesting assassination missions, copy paste environments and glitchy game in general made AC III the point at which I simply didn't care for the franchise anymore.

Same here. It was the quick time event in the elevator shaft that first gave me a clue that something was wrong.

Other M is the most obvious choice for me. While I still had some decent fun with it, it pales in comparison to pretty much every other entry, and the story and writing was a garbage fire that completely ruined Samus. Been 10 years since the last good Metroid, which just sucks.

Would have posted this, but the series has come back from the dead with 7.

The Third Birthday, Suikoden 4, Breath of Fire 5, Silent Hill: The Room...parade of sadness right there.

Seven Kingdoms 3 (aka Seven Kingdoms: Conquest) ruined an excellent series
Duke Nukem forever is an easy pick
Bomberman: Act Zero was also terrible

Sim City recently killed all interest I had in that series. EA did everything wrong with it after I spent hours loving Sim City 4

What about Sim City Societies and Sim City Creator? They both killed it first. xD
