The way I see it, it probably won't happen for a couple years. Trump still needs to crush any resistance from the GOP and finish circumventing the constitution, and Russia needs to takke over the former soviet union countries first. But after that happens I think it could easily happen.

By mobilizing all their forces and rushing them straigt into Europe. If they can crush them before the european arms industries can react, they could do it. Russia has more weaponry in their reserves than all of EU taken together, so that would be a possibilty. However, their declining population can't support an extended full out war and once it comes to a standstill, they would be fucked.
This of course, if no one intervenes and the nukes getting all neutralized in high athmosphere (on both sides). The british would most probably intervene in europe's favor even after Brexit is achieved, and I don't think Japan would stand idle, either. An US intervention on sides of russia could allivate the pressure for them, but the US troops would have to cross the atlantic first, no easy task if you have the whole european fleet to defeat first and have to develop and build landing ships which can make it all the way across the atlantic first. Besides, I don't think canada and mexico would stay idle and bind many US troops at their borders. And an US intervention would very much force China to support europe, if only to protect their interests. Good morning World War III, everyone!

I don't think that the british support the EU. May has already met with trump and he promised "lasting support" to them. I doubt they jeopardize that. More than likely they will side with whoever the US sides with which would be Russia. Plus the US could move supplies from the US to Russia through Alaska. Trump bringing back the pipelines is a concession to Canada so I could see Canada letting them move supplies through their country to Alaska.
You're right though I can see China siding with EU for their own interests. I don't think that Mexico does anything though. Their economy has taken a beating since the Trump inauguration.
