Forums - Gaming - Rise of the Tomb Raider is like a bad last-gen game

The story was meh, but the gameplay was good. The graphics are also pretty good, with exception that characters models look plastic.

Tomb Raider 2013 felt like such a bad Uncharted rip-off as well.

He mental? Rottr looked amazing!! Almost rivaled uncharted.

Bad last-gen game doesnt sound like a hyper exaggeration to you?

Nope, I had a simulair occurance once and managed to actually fix it. Arkham Knight actually looked worse than it's previous entries which were last gen. Turns out there a confliction my PS4 settings that caused this to occur while I was hooked up to a monitor. After I corrected a few console settings the game looked fine.

Thank you, no, I played on ps4 with an LED TV. There are no technical issues. The game simply looks bland and old and not what I would expect from a current gen game.

I hardly ever comment badly about music and voice acting but in this game, it was just laughably bad. It is one of the main reasons I can't bring myself to finish the game. Particularly Lara's voice acting is horrible.

People are angry about my opinion coz they're tomb raider fans. I get it. It's easy to get upset when someone hates on their favorite franchise. But with all honesty, it's just a bad game for current gen standards.

This statement is highly unlikely. You didn't mention the TV brand, and you make claims such as "Screen shots don't do justice". This means that the problem is on your end. I can assure you of this, rather it's your console settings or TV. That I can't tell.

What is your Video Output Settings listed at? Go to System Settings ----> Sound and Screen ----> Video Output. I'm mostly interested and what you have your RGB Range set to.

The game might not be as good looking as Uncharted 4, Resident Evil 7, or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. But it's still impressive in many areas.

Lol please stop making it look like I know nothing about TVs. Sheesh. I don't complain about uncharted 4 or NBA 2k or something like that, so my TV and console are fine.

A nice screenshot won't show how poorly the game looks while it's being actually played. It's simply not good. That's it.

It looks great but that is the only positive thing about this game. I was so annoyed by the pointless dialogues and Lara's monologues that I started overlapping them with my own trash talk.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

It's funny that all people can defend about the game is the graphics. Well yeah coz everything else is impossible to defend.

It's really difficult for me to take your thread seriously after that title and the first point. RoTR won a prestigious award in narative (source: http://www.polygon.com/2016/2/14/10989732/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-claims-writers-guilds-top-honor-for-video ) but looking at how you respond to other comment, i can see you'll consider that award as a moot point. You complain abt background music, when background music is almost non-existent in the game. Soundeffect is actually pretty well done in this game. AI is not the smartest one iv seen, but the game focus a lot more on stealth combat than wpn combat. To me, seems like you're looking for another gears of war, but sadly tomb raider is not that kind of game.

Another false claim. It was never my intention to make it look like you know nothing about TV's, nor the set up of your console. However there is a setting on both PS3 and PS4 consoles that may have changed on you. If you truly knew this information you'd be able to have clarified this on your first reply. This seems very alarming and I was offering to help you fix the issue so you can enjoy this game, and perhaps a few other titles that may suffer from this in the future. But it seems that other forum members were smart to just laugh it off and move on. I apologize for attempting to troubleshoot with you. You certainly showed the rest of us what kind of "internet" person you are. Shit talking games and getting self-defensive is not really an appealing approach to a conversation. Good luck to you on the rest of your endeavors and hopefully you'll take a more mature approach in your future threads. I'll set this one behind me and not think down  on it. No bad blood, just shaken my head like this guy xD

PS. If you were having technical issues as your original post described. It's highly unlikely you'd be aware of it if you haven't already fixed it or even acknowledged it at the least.

Sooooo Imma just go and....

As a TR fan of old, there are plethora of things I can say about Tomb Raider since its reboot (to sum it up: it's utter crap that has nothing to do with real TR), but bad graphics? Yeah, but no.

On PC it looks and runs great. But stoory and gameplay == SHIT

I disagree with your view. I appreciated the PS4 Pro version a lot and I think the support for the game has been great considering the unfortunate events surrounding it. I want to see the series continue.
