Wii Fit saves lives.
Pachter is just guessing really. I think Ninty will be "averaging" around 100k / week for the US, and it WILL sellout (first year anyway). So 4m might be right, although I had it pegged slightly higher (5m).
Still well on target to hit 10m worldwide by end of '08 (3m Japan, 3m Europe, 4m US).
Gesta Non Verba
Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099
For once I think Patcher is bang on. A worldwide target of 10 million in '08 is about right IMO. I think Wii Fit will be the Wii's version of Nintendogs - the kind of game that occupies the charts many years after release. I think lifetime sales will be somewhere in the order of 20 - 30 million.
I think this thing probably sells over 5 million over the Wiis lifetime, just in the US. 3-4 million this year? I'm not sure about that. I think it'll be a leggy game that over a period of 2-3 years solidifies itself as one of the biggest success stories of this generation.
I wonder how much Nintendo gets for this? The balance board can't be cheap.
I don't think 3-4 Mil. in 2008 alone is possible. Maybe 2mil... but 3mil? I don't think so

That is not entirely unlikely, Nintendo knows they need more and more aggressive commercials and marketing strategies. This is the one point in which they have a lot to learn outside of Japan yet. |
That's definitely not true in the UK. Nintendo advertises a lot more aggressively than MS or Sony. I see about 5 wii/ds TV ads a day, whereas I'd be surprised to see 1 a week for PS3/360.
A few months back, you would see Brain Training ads in literally every ad break. I'm sick to the back teeth with Nicole Kidman bleating on about her brain age. And i'm pretty fed up with sports stars pretending to play sports, too.
OT: Pachter is usually right, despite the insistence of da interwebz. 4m is likely in the US. Let's face it, you tubby bastards could do with losing a few pounds.
