They formed a free trade agreement with Australia back in 2009... As well as other countries and they have seen some great growth. They wen't from $240 billion GDP + $13,331 GDP per capita to $297 billion GDP + $16,573 GDP per capita in just 7 years, that's a 24% growth over that period, at a time when other countries in the region stagnated or declined.

The World Bank already classifies Chile as a high-income economy. It's pretty much close to being a developed country nowadays. They also solved the social insurance problem and have a great budget control.
I just hope that Brazil jumps out of Mercosul. We should use the whole Venezuela situation as an excuse and get out. We can even sign deals with Argentina and Uruguay since they're important partners, but at least bilateral deals can be done in terms that are good for the 2 parts, instead of dealing with the problems of a multi-country deal.
