Wow that is.....something lol.

On a side note I honestly feel like they should just drop Injustice 2 from the list and add in KI and UMvC 3. If not that then maybe one of the Super Smash games. Is the difference between the 2 really that big where they need both of them? I have not played either one so I am not sure.

They are the 2nd and 3rd biggest games at EVO, regardless of how different they are they would never drop 1 for UMvC3 or KI.

Injustice or 1 of the anime fighters would make a lot more sense if UMvC3 and KI are both more popular than those.

Oh I know they are both big I was just wondering how different they were from each other to have them both there that would make a difference in my opinion. Because if they were exactly the same minus one or two characters it would be like having Ki season 1 and Ki season 2 both there as two different games. That's why I was wondering how different they were. But if I had to choose anything to go right off it would be Injustice.

Yes, Melee and Smash 4 are quite different in gameplay, and they have completely different communities. Last year, both games had over 2000 entrants, of which only about 15% were participating in both.

Thank you! I knew they both were always big but I never knew if they were very different games or not. If that is the case then yeah now it makes more sense as to why they have and keep both of them.

It's not very easy to tell which gets more views. At tier 2 events (nationals), Smash 4 might get more views. At super majors, Melee destroys Smash 4 viewership, unless Smash 4 is the final event, in which case is pretty close.

I do think Smash 4 deserves the Sunday spot on Mandalay Bay, simply because it's the second biggest game. It doesn't make sense to have a bracket with more players be shorter than one with less players.

???

S4 has done better at tier 1 events through out the whole of last year in fact what you posted is more vice versa.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

"I don't work for twitch so these numbers are taken by hand, using the viewer count, rounded to the nearest thousand. Some tourneys I didn't watch in their entirety to I may have missed some peaks"

Not really a reliable source with a large margin for error because not only has he not got every tournament but has only calculated from top 8.

Melee not being at the arena seems to be a weird choice, considering the game gets more views than Wii U, but I guess this is EVO's of compensating Wii U players last year.

Melee getting more views than Smash 4 is a reality as of now, but one that might be a bit twisted. It's obvious Melee inherently gets a lot more viewers than Smash 4 by mere virtue of being part of the finals day - so this year we get to see how Smash 4's viewership truly compares.

There's plenty of Smash-focused tournaments where Smash 4 has more viewers than Melee, as well as many tournaments where Melee dominates. The same applies to players. In the end, it's just hard to determine which game is more popular at the moment - but what definitely is a fact, is that Smash 4 has more competitive players in the biggest tournaments, including Evo.

Melee is inherently and obviously more popular than Smash 4 in the competitive fighting scene, there are leagues all over the place.

Noo.. I want KI to be there as much as I want UMvC3.

Do we really need 2 Smash Bros?

it has a lot of entrants, problem is we have lesser known titles like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear than UMVC 3.

I was hoping for more SF tbh. But no way it wins against UMvC3, a game that would normally be there anyways.

UMvC3 really just wants it. I feel really bad for Skullgirls though to be honest. Last time an event like this took place they were really scorned and it sucks the scene has been pushed back so much by this.

Windjammers looks cool... but how is it a fighting game? I mean, I'm not knocking it, but it is clearly some kind of sports game. It reminds me of that Mario Tennis GBA (so good btw) on steroids

Whelp Marvel donations are dominating right now

I like how the ratio of people to donations is hilariously different between Pokken and Marvel, Pokken is at almost half the number of people Marvel is at.
