Forums - Gaming - Nintendo Fans Around The World React To Switch - IGN Video

I don't like IGN, but I like this video. Credit where credit is due.

Oh, and I think Nintendo doesn't even want to flip some PS or Xbox fans over.

Overall good video. The Japanese young man in the glasses said something in the end that I've been thinking about bringing up in a thread for a while

I do believe you are refering to this "Rather than smartphone games, I've been hoping for a portable device with console style games..."

I fully agree, and I know he is not alone. That is why I have been saying Sony and Nintendo need to release Handheld/Phone hybrids for years. There is a massive market for 3DS and Vita games on Phones, and even more so PS4/XBO games. Had Nintendo released a 4G model of the Switch, I have no doubt it would be their biggest selling console ever, with them selling 50M in Japan alone.

I still hope we see a Switch Phone in the future. They could easily slim down the unit, use a 5" screen, and get more battery life with a 10nm 4G Tegra chip in the next two years. It would be a massive boost to their platform, and give them a real chance to fight back into the hardware space.

But what else would Nintendo fans have said? Thats like asking a potato wht it thinks about potatoes.....

They should have gone to something like PSX and ask PS fans what they think about the switch.

Now that would have been interesting.

This is the same feeling I had. Of course Nintendo fans are going to be excited. These people came from all over just for this event, the chances they would be disappointed are extreamly slim.

I will be more interested to see the buzz from the lesser Nintendo fans post launch, and see what the lines look like at broader trade shows.

Pretty much my thoughts. I keep thinking back to one of my old phones that had a physical mini-keyboard that slid out...playing games on it wasn't perfect, but was far better than what I got now. If only someone would bite the bullet & dare to make a thicker phone with a physical controller portion (just a D-pad & mashable buttons)...

I'm surprised so many people said Arms was the most exciting game for them. Things are looking good! Hopefully it's jam-packed with content like Mario Kart is.

I was originally gonna ask you to read just the bold out loud and see if it made sense to you, but please read the entire thing out loud to yourself.

I have rarely see such a terrible analogy written with such sincerety. A potato and a potato are the EXACT same thing. You are basically equating people to pieces of plastic and glass..............

Aside from... that, the rest makes just as little sense. You are suggesting that instead of going to people who were at the event and actually tried the system, you are suggesting they go to a completely different event to people who have not even touched the system. This is ludacris. It's like saying:

"Hmm, people who like Italian food seem to really love how they used ink their spaghetti. Instead of asking them, I am going to ask someone who really likes Indian curry and have not tried the spaghetti for their opinion on how it tastes. Surely their opinion on how it tastes is more valid than those who have tried it."

This is how you do an analogy by the way..............

Yep, you got it, but I have to disagree with what you said. You are sating they could easily do that, but can they do it really or is that based on your desire rather than actual analysis of cost and execution? Speaking of cost, how much would a game console that doubles as a home console cost? Sony tried a phone that could play Vita games, and although that wasn't a home console experience it was still a console experience. How succesful was that?

Biggest thing I took from this is that there is quite the considerable amount of excitement for Arms.
This game is drawing more and more of my attention as time slowly passes.

I am like you. I saw the reveal and thought, "dumb motion game" but then I saw the movement options and I noticed this game is deep and has serious Virtua On type potential. I cannot wait to purchase

Actually Sony has never released a Phone that had access to any PlayStation games (Vita or otherwise) or PlayStation Network features. Sony Ericsson made a phone called the Xperia Play that many people get confused as a PlayStation phone, but Sony never developed any games for it, and they never had any support from any major 3rd parties. It was a complete indie device, with very bad support even at that.

Sony already has a lot of the tech for this developed, and they have a lot of the partnerships in place. All they need to do is merge Sony Mobile Comunications into Sony Interactive Entertainment. They are already working with AMD to continuously shrink the PS4 chipset, and it won't take a whole lot more to get it ready for a mobile device. Going this route, their R&D costs are greatly reduced as they pertain to both the regular PS4 and whatever mobile they make.

Nintendo, may have a little bit harder time, but their partenership with Nvidia would help them out a lot. Nvidia already has a lot of partnerships with the mobile space, and they already make mobile ready Tegra chips. Nintendos biggest hurdle would be getting multi-tasking and non gaming features up and running. That would take quite a lot of time and money, but I think that Nintendo gamers would gladly give them the time to sort things out if they could have a phone that could play all the great Nintendo games, as opposed to the terrible offerings on Android and iOS.

As for cost I think both would have to be in the same ball park as any other mobile device. Your Probably looking at a $500 Switch Phone off contract and a $600 dollar PlayStation Phone off contract. Depending on internal storage the price could go up quite a bit.

It is definitly doable, and both companies are in good position to do it. The mobile revolution has to start somewhere. The last big change came from Apple who didn't even really have a Phone buisness, and now they are the biggest in the world next to Samsung. Sony and Nintendo could easily shake things up again, and bring a much better experince to the mobile space.

I see,  one of those poeple that says so much but yet say nothing at all. You see the part in your quote I bolded? That tells me you actually got the exact meaning of my anology. Everything else you said following that is just silly to me.

Yes, I am saying that a video interviewing people that would fall into the die hard fans category about a system they were gonna like regardless is very bias. Like asking a nintendo fan what they think about nintendo, or a sony fan what tey think about PS4. The point of what I said was clear and obvious, but you have kinda helped add substance to my post.... being the nintendo fan you are you have taken offence with me simply saying that basing that video on fans is not a lot to go on and have gone on the warpath. So why should anything you say be taken seriously? Especially when you skirt around what I am actually saying and make this about human beings and plastic. lmao...... all the time knowing exactly what I meant lol.

I have not said anything about the Switch not being great or good to play, hell i even said I am sure its perfect for some people...... I don't have to have played it or to won it to know what about it I do not like. And this isn't the thread to talk about that.

What I am saying still stands, that video is what you call a puff piece, and its noway indicative of what the general public thinks. If nintendo comes to E3, then we will know what the general public thinks. And since you need me to spell it out for you..... I am NOT suggesting that they go to people that have not tried the system. I am suggesting that they go to people that are not interested in the system or fans of the comapany, let them try it and then lets see what they think. You know> Like what things like E3 are for......

Haha this is too easy. Just because I am able to understand your terrible analogy doesn't mean it makes sense. It simply means, and the very reason I brought that up first, is that you have a poor and irational way of thinking. (I'll get to this later with "C" being the indicator) Just because a teacher marks off points for being wrong on a test does not mean the teacher does not understand what you are saying.

I tiptoe around your points? What points? You wrote three lines... two with actual (and poor) substance . Completely false.

Your quote I bolded and bracketed is ESSENTIALLY the point of this thread: People who actually used the Switch are voicing their opinions. You can want it to be about "blind Nintendo fans praise Nintendo for everything", but no its not. Nothing said in the video is irrelavent because a Nintendo fan said it.

"noway indicative of what the general public thinks"... No duh. The general public hasn't tried the Switch. This thread is about people who have tried it.

Oh, and I haven't proved that, as the "Nintendo fan [I am]", I attack you for anything you said. Here's what I actually proven:

-You want to potray Nintendo fans in a bubble as illogical and blind. "but what else would Nintendo fans have said?" < case in point

-Any counter point or exposing of your very failed logic is blind hatred, attacks, etc, in order to pretend what I say is irrelavent. < A warpath? Give me a break.

C -- "I am NOT suggesting that they go to people that have not tried the system." is in DIRECT and painfully obvious contrast with, "They should have gone to something like PSX and ask PS fans what they think about the switch."

The reason you say the underlined is because you want to pretend to be unbiased and a victim of hatred and mallacy of a Nintendo fan. However, you fail at victimizing yourself with what you originally said. You didn't think through what you said.
