Forums - Nintendo - How are 2 Joycons being $79.99 overpriced when 2 PS Move controllers are $99.99!?

Bandorr said:

For multiple reasons.

The move controllers are an optional use for the PS VR.
The Joy cons are the "main" use for the switch. Infact the only use in handheld mode.

Also you can find them for "Price: $36.49 " a piece on amazon. Putting two of them at $75.

Additional Joy-Cons are optional as well

You dont need additional Joy-Cons for handheld mode, its comes with two right out of the box.

Using Amazon discounts for 6 year old accessories really isnt a fair comparison. Im sure it will be easy to find Joy-Cons at a lower price in 6 years too.

With that said, I do think $40 for a Joy-Con & $60 for a pair would be a much better price but i think alot of people are over reacting to the price.

It's because PS Move is not the standard controller. The joycons may not be overpriced for the tech inside of them, but they're higher than people are used to paying for a controller.

But the Joycons are not the standard controllers, they are just the ones they come with in order to use the handheld. The Pro Controller is the Standard controller which is only $10 more than Sony and Microsofts controllers and the Pro Controller has the more features inside that are also in the Joycons aswell as a 40hr battery life.

That's debatable. They come with the system, they're the ones on sale now, and they're the controller that is often shown with the system. I would say Nintendo is going to push the joy cons as the standard. On the flip side, 2 sets of joycons can give access to 4 player in many games, so that's cool.

I want you to read back the bold part to yourself outloud...slowly.

Also, they're both overpriced

/thread.

Just because they are included to use the handheld, why does that make them the standard? What person is going to only by the more expensive Joycons as well as the grip over the cheaper conventional controller? Your just trying to make stuff stand out to make something look bad, as if it was the only option and thats the only controller you use. The whole reason the Joycons exist is so they could make the system less expensive and include a controller input for both the handheld and TV in one controller.

You are misunderstanding something here.

The PS Move is overpriced. It has very old tech inside of it that is currently inferior to the Wii Motion Plus controller/ The new Wii controllers with Wii Motion Plus built in. I believe those are cheaper as well. It has about 9 hours of battery life.

The Joycons are not. Based on everything presented and seen thus far they are high grade and have a lot of tech in it. I believe 2 cost the same as 2 Wii Motion Plus controllers. Its battery last for 20 hours

HOWEVER, the underlying issue is this:

- The PS Move controller largely optional to buy; I say optional because there are still some games that require its use. if you are buying the console it is not included thus the system overall is cheaper.

- The Joycons are bundled with the system. People are dissatisfied with the overall price of the Switch. Despite being reasonably priced. and instead of merely complaining that the added cost of the Joycons, some will take the extra step to say the Joycons are overpriced, despite it being fairly priced, as a means to cope with their frustration

You are really a lousy internetshopper if you pay €100 for two move controllers. Or €60 for a PS4 or Xone controller that's why people complain about the cost of the joycons. Besides you probably also want a charging grip with your Joycons which increases the price even further.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

So far there is only one game in existence that requires the Joycons and that is 1-2-Switch, how does that make them not optional? The case in which they are not optional is when you want to use the handheld but 2 are included anyway with the handheld which is all you need for that function.

Errrr, they're both overpriced. And more than enough people have said so. This isn't a revelation.

Has there been any improvement in the tech inside the ps move controllers?

No they are the same as the ones that came out for the PS3 years ago I think, from what I have heard.

Its more due to the fact that it is the "main" controller. But I think people are exagerrating a bit.I mean, 80 dollars is expensive and it could be cheaper, but its not like its completely absurd.
