I think people just need to chill out a bit when it comes to the Switch and its games. There's a large number of games announced already and we know the Switch will get a huge number of Nintendo and Japanese 3rd party titles. Also, even the Wii U got a decent number of Indie games so we don't need to worry about that.

I mean we'll get Zelda, Splatoon, 3D Mario and a Mario Kart Remake in the first year. If the PS5 launches with Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo and a Jack & Dexter Remake would we be "worried" about its lineup?

Looks like the Switch is actually getting quite a few games, which is really nice to see! Sad to see Nintendo's total mishandling of this fact!

How did Nintendo mishandle this? At the presentation they announced that more than 80 games are in development for Switch and they showed footage for a good number of games.

Nintendo can't do anything about gaming forums jumping to wrong conclusions. When someone like you says things like Zelda and Mario Kart don't count for much in the launch window, how is any of this Nintendo's fault? You only have yourself to blame for buying into the wrong narrative that is being pushed hard by other forum members.

A simple example of this is the claim that Switch won't get third party support. You are prone to buy into such a narrative, because you aren't interested in fact-checking. But if you actually took an honest look at the big picture, you'd quickly notice that people aren't talking about third party support despite using that term. What they always mean is AAA support, but they don't use that term because that would still leave Nintendo with a lot of third party support and that would contradict the overall narrative of "Nintendo messed up again". In reality, Switch is set up to absorb the software pipelines of Wii U, 3DS and Vita. Meanwhile, the PS4 and XB1 won't get the third party support that has been home at handhelds; these two consoles are going to lose out on a lot of RPGs.

Yep, i love it when people say Nintendo is missing out on hundreds of games that are on PS/XB while completely ignoring that every generation Nintendo has hundreds of games not found on PS/XB.

That's not how that works at all. 80 games being in development as of January 2017 does not mean it will only have 80 games by the end of 2019.

AAA titles may take 3+ years to make but things like ports, remasters, most indie games, most Japanese games, most kid/family games are developed in much less time than 3 years.

Actually, that is basically how it works.  I could have worded my post a bit better.  More like this - 80 games in development now means the library is going to be devoid of big games, and likely far behing the XB1 and PS4 in number of small games at the 3 year mark.

Please tell me you don't actually believe that nonsense?

Yes, I definitely believe it.

Wut?He sadi that there are over 80 titles in development AT THE MOMENT.What it means that at this moment, those are the titles comming to the Switch, not those are all titles comming to it.Nothing stops developers from porting/developing more games to it.Not to mention that there are many games that take less than three games to develop.

Technically you are correct.  But, in reality, not all of the 80 games in development will make it to completion.

That 80 number is certainly the best one Nintendo could justify putting forth.  So, while its true that some indy games can come to market in less than 3 years, I think it is safe to say that no AAA or AA games that could possibly make it on to Switch (say, 2018's CoD or AC games) were left out of that number.  So, I'm comfortable with my statement, if we exclude the smallest independent games.  I suppose there could be a bunch of 2 hour long 8-bit style games.

We only know about 50% of the 80 games currently in devleopment. So this talk about a disparity between PS4/XB1 and NS is absurd as you have no idea if any of the yearly 3rd party titles and/or bigger games are part of that list. You also are not accounting for what 3rd parties will learn about porting to NS between now and E3 (when I expect most/all of these and more games to be announced).

E3 will be interesting this year as it will definitely spell out NS for at least 2017 and 2018. Next years E3 will be the final say in what to expect NS to continually recieve through its life.

You are still way off the mark and what you are saying is complete nonsense.

The lineup is weak at best. Nintendo has to up their game, it's clear that they rushed up the console to replace the Wii U. The launch month is extremely weak. Hell, PS4 has more noteworthy software arriving that month and it's just a normal month for it.

Most software there will launch or is already on PS4/X1. There are some old games and old indies. Way too much weak titles. The good games of 2017 are Zelda, Mario, Splatton 2, Mario Kart, Xenoblade and maybe a Pokémon. The first 2 are new games, the next 2 are basically remasters, Xenoblade is a niche title and Pokémon is not confirmed.

They better have a great E3 lineup (I believe they will) or the Holidays will be a total onslaught.

This is clearly a soft launch.

It's not great but it's not terrible. Nintendo has some hard hitting IPs coming out in 2017 so it should be a great year for Nintendo fans, I don't think anyone can complain about a new Mario, Zelda, Xenoblade and Splatoon in one year. So Nintendo is doing great on that front.

Western third party support is very weak, mostly old ports that just serve to be a litmus test. Japanese third party support is not really all that good either, Square Enix has some big games coming but everyone else seems cautious. We'll just have to wait and see what happens here.

Games that I am definitely getting:

  • Zelda: Breath of the Wild (preordered with the system)
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Splatoon 2
  • Sonic Mania
  • Snipperclips
Games that I am considering:
  • Arms
  • Super Bomberman R
  • Xenoblade 2

Launch lineup is a bit scarce, but the lineup for the rest of 2017 is great.

That's not even when we include that a lot more games will be shown at E3 or the next few months that will most likely be coming out in 2017 too.

Too much text, not enough pretty Logos. 6/10 in the visual department for 'simple graphics'.

Snipperclips and ARMS look amazing and I'm excited for Dragon Quest heros I+II and Dargon Quest XI as well as Stardew Valley and Yooka Laylee. Still on the fence about Binding of Isaac.
I need to see more of Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 and Fire Emblem Switch. Mario looks ok, but isn't a major draw for me, Mario Kart 8 deluxe is dissapointing from a WiiU owner standpoint.

Still worried about third party support overall and the fact that Nintendo seem intent on keeping the 3ds alive as long as they can. I'm hoping for a good E3.

I would take back the Wii U launch window third party support any day over this, lol. Zombi U, COD, Tekken Tag, Assassin's Creed, NBA 2K, and sure late ports of things like Mass Effect, Need for Speed, and Batman Arkham ... but at least those were decent games.

Switch has better Nintendo 1st party stuff and not as much mini-game crap (did we really need Nintendo Land AND Wii Party U AND Game & Wario AND Mario & Sonic Olympics AND Wii Fit U AND Sing Party in the Wii U's first year?) from Nintendo, but the third party support is definitely worse.
