those were terrible terrible versions of those games. ANd some how COD did actually sell ok and boost the vita for a bit

But Vita is still sitting at 15 million. I'm saying AAA games aren't the only ones that count. Vita got games like Uncharted, Call of Duty, Killzone, Assassin's Creed, and Borderlands yet trailed behind a system with none of the above.

oh im not saying they dont. However, not having them hurts more in the home console space. People dont really care about AAA experiences on the go that much ( i wish they did) home consoles? Yeah. As long as the comp keeps getting the games people play by the millions and Ninty home consoles keep missing out then its gonna be a problem...but then again Wii U had AAA stuff at the start and sold worse than VIta so who the hell really knows?

Remember all those Vita critics (most of whom probably didn't own a Vita and never intended to own one) who mocked the system because of all its games were playable elsewhere? Um, who cares? It has a huge library of indie and Japanese "AA" games. The fact that they're available elsewhere is moot. They're also available on Vita, and playable on the go. Would these critics rather the Vita had fewer games? In a world where fewer games is never a good thing, that just doesn't make sense.

overall i really agree with you. more games is always better.*

however, vita failed to also carve out a set of exclusive of it's own.  it is important to have some "carrots" that justify this system over just any system.  but still,.. a lot of the "ps4" game i buy i don't play on ps4.  i play them on vita because i can and because i like to play games on my commute.  i love that even after vita very objectively failed it is still really well support.

*but the platform owner needs to make their store front navigatable to the games i want to play.  i have trouble with apple because it is really hard to find something on their store that isn't a "top ten" app.  the fact i have to use other sources to find games on their service is a deterrentto me.

Gotta agree, kinda silly when you think about it. Unless I am missing something.

The NS was first acknowledged by Nintendo since way back in 2014 right? Meaning the have been working on this for at least 4 years. Now the WiiU was no doubt a failure. Why didn't Nintendo just make the the switch BC with all WiiU software? But not just that, digitally have available remastered (even if its just a rez and performance bump) versions of all the best selling WiiU games day one?

Obviously there re a LOT of people that hasn't played them being how poorly the wiiU did, so why not?

just a hunch,.. but i'd guess it is due to the lack of a disc drive.

There's a difference between claiming that fewer games is a good thing, and claiming that it's essentially a non issue. I don't think you'll find anyone celebrating the fact that Switch doesn't have many games.

Anyway, while I agree that Switch not having an amazing lineup is disappointing, Titanfall 2 or Borderlands 3 likely wouldn't have helped the console much, if at all. Nintendo has done an excellent job of making its consoles the least appealing place possible for online shooter based gameplay. Losing out on Mass Effect (or Yooka Laylee, if that falls through) is a much bigger blow, however.

Nintendo latest successful ip is actually an online shooter, but ok..

That's true, and you'll notice that in nearly every single review of that online shooter, the majority of the complaints are directed at how the online was handled. No voice chat, no local co op, restricted to two maps at any given time, etc. To this day Nintendo consistently fumbles some of the easiest things to nail with online gameplay, with perhaps the most recent notable example being having to use a phone app to voice chat on Switch.

What are you talking about? All Switch ever needs is LoZ. Lol. (There are people who actually believe this.)

If Switch only ever got Zelda I would genuinely be happy. Of course if PS4 only got Zelda I would be equally happy.  Aslong as someone somewhere keeps making top tier Zelda game I'm gonna buy them.

Of course Switch would need to "have Wii U inside" in a form or another, in this case it would also need to have extra hardware because of the controller and the disc drive anyway. Besides, if the Wii U did not sell, having a BC had not been worth it, as there's obvious lack of interest in it's games.

I think the question was, why the dock did not include Wii U. It would have been a solution of having two consoles for the price of two.

There aren't that many maps in Splatoon anyway, so the lack of options isn't that big of a deal.

The app on your mobile is absolutely brilliant! You can chat with your friends cross-game if you prefer, but apparently you may not even need to be playing at all to be in touch with your friends or you do not need stop chatting if you need to leave the game or the house. This app might especially be great if you have kids.

I think PSP showed there is a strong potential market for console experiences on the go.

Grand Theft Auto, Midnight Club, Gran Turismo, God of War, Star Wars Battlefront/Force Unleashed, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, FIFA, Madden, etc. were all pretty successful on PSP.

I hope Skyrim, FIFA & NBA 2K sell well on Switch and show once again that there is a market for console style games on the go. Switch seems to be getting a solid lineup of Japanese, indie & kid/family software, if it can get PSP level of western support than that would give it a really well rounded software library.

PSP was years ago. Clearly in the recent years people lost interest in those types of games on the go. If they still cared Vita would have done much better and to a lesser extent 3DS woudl have too.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say those games will not do to hot, I wanna be wrong, but nothing recently has shown be I am.
