Forums - Sales - NPD: FFXV had best launch month for the franchise in the US since tracking began in 1995

Glad the game did well. Aside from the terrible presentation of its story, its quite an enjoyable game.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

So job system = final fantasy for you?

You can read up on Bravely Default and see Final Fantasy mentioned countless times, including by its creators.

doesn't change what I am saying...... so what if bravely default is a thowback to FF, or made like some of the older FF games. I don't have to read about it to know what thy are talking about being that I have played every mainline FF game including those that use the job class system you are talking about. Si i Know what you are talking about.

Just saying, that the job class system is not the be all and end all of FF games. I personally love the franchise because of how different most of the mainline games are. And thats what You don't get about FF. If you ask many FF fans, they probably will all have a list of very different FF games as their favorites. For me its FF8, FF12, FF9, FF7, FF15, FF6, FF5.... and in that order. Doesn't mean that any one of them is not FF simply because its not like the one before it or like another one in the series.

I still don't think you have played the game, and though this is a personal thing for me..... I don't usually get into arguments about how good a game is or bad a game is with anyone (because I feel with game preference its all a matter of opinion) but I have a thing against people that talk down games when they haven't even played it. But thats just me though. To each their own.

But the armchair experts on forums said the game was a bomba, that the franchise was done after the sales in Japan...

Despite its shortcomings still one of the best games last year.

I haven't played Final Fantasy XV. I have no interest in playing it.

But I don't need to. All I need to know is that vivster doesn't consider Final Fantasy XV a real Final Fantasy, so bringing up games that are more Final Fantasy than what is currently released as Final Fantasy, and those games being on the 3DS which doesn't have a high enough resolution for vivster's liking, all of that made it an easy target for mockery of vivster that should and could not be passed up.

The resolution of the games is just a symtom of the actual problem. That being the dedicated handheld platform. I'd have no trouble with the resolution if it was on mobile. There are a lot of great games on the DS and 3DS that I will never enjoy because the barrier of entry is too great even for me.

Let's hope SE doesn't turn this into 'we are so good we need to do more of this open world western rpg stuff'.

Atleast the assets won't be wasted anymore meaning it won't take the next mainline FFs to have a 7 year gap between releases.

The future of FF is IMO cemented.

Mhm? The story may be cut up into slices of greatness, but the gameplay is absolutely fantastic..... Especially the open world exploration and sidequesting around the map is super fun. FF XV gameplay wise is my favorite of the bunch, and the combat is great once you get used to it.

All this exploration and sidequesting has gotten in the way of a potentially awesome story. The combat didn't feel like that to me, and I have gotten used to it. Let's say it's not my style. Gameplay was smooth, definitely, but that doesn't make the game for me. I found the anime and the movie in anticipation of the game a much better and experience.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, i'm just not satisfied with what I got out of it.

Well, I bought it and was totally dissapointed about it, so I hope SE doesn't think this game was in any way up to the franchise standards. Now that I'm playing DQVIII, this is more painful to see.

Nope. The Bravely games were made by Square-Enix and adopt the job system found in several of the mainline Final Fantasy games. They were meant to be throwback games to classic Final Fantasy with some modern features.

So job system = final fantasy for you?

Anyways, to OP. Great for them; I loved FF15, as i have loved every FF game before it (with exception to 13, God I hated that game.... first FF I didnt finish) and I really find it funny when people say this FF didn't deserve it or is bad. But Rol... the reason I singled out your post is that I don't even think you have played FF15 lol.

There's no doubt that Bravely Default games are way more similar to FF old games than FFXV. I think that's obvious tbh. Still, they're not particulary good imo. They screwed some things, because they were trying to improve games' length with some questionable decisions.
