Generally speaking, it not uncommon for people to play games because it came to their preferred platform.

There were periods of my life when I was away from home so I would opt for portable versions of games simply because I wouldn't be around consoles, have long commutes, etc. I played a ton of DS, PSP, and Vita during those times. Even some games that were better on consoles, so I guess that's proof.
