Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony Innovation and Power in one

Sony is just a likeable Microsoft. They do the exact same thing but get a better reception.

Microsoft is a "soft" version of sony, they are so damn hesitant to spend money on makeing games.
They go for the safe bets, forza/halo/gears, and have strict budgets & goal posts for developers, anyone that steps outta line gets cut.

Game libraries are very differnt for the two.

Xbox game's in 2017 vs Playstation's is kinda sad.

Yes Sony is the best when it comes to Software and Hardware imo.

Software is debateable.

However Id say hardware wise, sony are smarter about design in general than the other two.

PS3 was just a huge blunder (arrogant sony). However look at PS1,PS2,PS4, its just good hardware design.

So what innovation are you talking about?

Without Sony, Last Guardian would have been cancelled. There wouldn't be a Heavy Rain or Until Dawn. We would never have gotten a sequel to Gravity Rush; nor a Knack 2. There wouldn't be many niche games like Pupeteer which probably bring some enjoyment to some of us.

There is VR, which Sony is the marketleader. Sony didn't innovate, but it is the driving force behind higher VR development and consumer adoption. Many people will get to play the new RE7 in VR, because of Sony.

Sony is also driving game streaming with PSNOW.

Sony is also the first one to bring 4K gaming to console gamers at an affordable price, a year earlier than anyone.

All reasons for Sony to be the market leader, and enough said.

Plus the PS+ streaming stuff.

Hmm, pie.

Sony is the maker of more successful consoles than anybody else. They're the Marvel of video games. They found the formula for success ages ago. If you need us to reaffirm your beliefs, then: Yes. Sony is awesome. They've been awesome for decades, now. That's not about to change. They have it all.

Nintendo and Microsoft are awesome in their own ways, as well. I can't wait to play Gravity Rush 2 at midnight, Resident Evil comes out in a few days and Horizon in a couple of months. Sony is king of the hill.

....but, for the forseeable future all of my excitement is directed towards the Switch!

Sony is really innovative and deserves every bit of its success, I mean, a black box more powerful than the previous black box? That's fucking brilliant.

Playstation doesn't innovate with software. Having multi-platform support and 1st party support at the same time isn't innovation.

None of those games are innovative or known for setting the standard. VR is still niche and almost everyone is doing it. PS4 Pro is not capable of actual 4K gaming and that's not innovation anyway, that's just making a more powerful console. Consoles have been getting more powerful since decades. Heck, Nintendo even inserted special chips into their cartridges to boost the power of the SNES. That was absolutely brilliant of them and gave them the edge over their competitors. It didn't require the purchase of additional devices or new consoles. Also, streaming has been done long before Sony, even with games.

And since when is getting a sequel to Knack a good thing, lol?

As of today, Sony is the most well rounded. They are the obvious choice in pretty much every category. By the end of the year, the competition will have a couple of reasons to make people buy their console. It depends on how much gamers value portability, power, or what have you. Sony will still have that "balance" and they'll still be the go to for single console owners.
