My guess is Spurge.

Or Onionberry =p

And yeah, all of my little cousins have PS3-4 (3 PS3's and 2 PS4's to be exact). And for mobile theyve got psps... Sometimes they go and rent a Gamecube, just to be owned by me in Mario kart double dash.

Just like the Wii U. All 14 million of those die-hard fans.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I expected that you would support vivster's argument.

Which one?

It will compete with gaming consoles priced similarly.

Why would they compete with the PS4? Over 50 million people have already bought one. It would be simpler for them to market directly to PS4 owners by offering them games they can't play on PS4.

I mean if they assume anyone who has already bought a PS4 or an XBO is lost, they're giving up on half the console market. Trying to sell a new system to those who still haven't bought one more than three years after both launched is just scavenging for scraps. The big spenders buy platforms at or soon after launch, and Nintendo needs the big spenders because the Switch is designed to suck more profit out of each consumer than any other Nintendo console for the past two decades.

Regarding the price, they have priced the Switch to make them a lot of profit, and as such there is a lot of wiggle room for price drops. I don't doubt we'll see competitively priced bundles this Holiday.

Ultimately, I think the primary audience and the majority of the Switch userbase will be 3DS owners. 3DS owners are Wii U gamers, they are PS4 gamers, they are PC gamers, and they buy shit tons of games. They are just gamers.

The 3DS managed to be an excellent primary gaming machine in Japan, and a great secondary gaming machine in the West. I think the Switch will struggle outside of Japan, sales-wise, until that audience is targeted with a price cut or two. If I am right, it's not all bad news, because there is no serious competitor fighting for the 3DS userbase, so they'll just wait for the 2018 Switch.

If I am wrong, and the Switch becomes a runaway success in 2017... well, that's a chance Nintendo apparently couldn't pass on, hence, the 300 dollars price tag. Somehow, Nintendo earned the right to experiment with the price since no one is filling their shoes in the handheld gaming space (not even smartphones).

PS4 gamers are part of the audience that bought a 3DS and should be targeted with the Switch, I agree. I just don't think they'll buy it for 300 dollars and pay for yet, another online gaming services. In that sense, with those prices, Nintendo is competing for PS4 gamers' money instead of fitting naturally in their households like the 3DS did.

I've been saying for the last 2-3 years (before it was called Switch or even NX) that Nintendo would release a unified platform and would have a solid release schedule of small-medium sized Japanese, indie & kid/family titles. So far that seems to be what is happening.

They have to. The little kids dont give a damn about Nintendo, and the generation who Nintendo had in the palm of their hand are all grown up. Nostalgia is everything if they dont have a once in a lifetime fad hit like the Wii. This is for the same niche market as the Wii U, except the device is actually a long range portable.

Kids don't give a damn about Nintendo? To who have they sold those 60M+ 3DSes?

I should've been specific. Kids dont give a damn about Nintendo home consoles. They want GTA and COD. Nntendo's core market (whom by now are mostly grown up) focused on their exclusives on consoles is dwindling as the generations pass. They create their consoles for themselves which alienates third parties who made games to secure profit for themselves on reliable partners hardware which requires minimal changes. Nintendo forgot since the 90's that he who holds the third party holds the power. Look at Microoft...if they had no third party, they would barely have any excclusives to show at all and its massively covered up by that. The little kids were all over the 360 last gen too.

My 10 years old son (and his brother in law, I should mention) doesn't give a crap about GTA. He's all about Minecraft and Pokemon. So I'll take my personal objective obeservation over your "passing what I expect as what everyone expect claims.

Wait...you're using two people as objective evidence? Without outside influence that might be their subjective taste. I mean, even I could agree that Nintendo games are artiscially geared towards children but it doesnt mean childrens choices arent diverse. I was the same but I had massive parental supervision over how i gamed the majority of the time, so I grew up on primarily Nintendo first party in the 90's. Its not completely that way anymore as kids have more access to their own choices digitally and also because a lot of parents have less time with their kids.  My point is that the majority of Nintendo die hards are adults at this point in time. The people who sold out the switch within short time and owned the Wii U. The majority of Pokemon players are adults. I can agree that kids have a greater share of the handheld and portable/ mobile market but. Ive seen more kids than I can count convince their parents to buy them games on the Xbox 360 and Playsation that based on age they shouldnt be playing (usually the parents didnt know what the games were and sought council and it was left up to their decision). Most of those games are generally found off of a Nintendo console. I will agree that Minecraft is played alot by kids and teens though. Some of the funniest videos on Youtube are little kids getting trolled on COD as well. COD last gen was known for little racist kids on the 360. It was rampant.

Yes, I take my firsthand experience over your word.

Did I say my words was law? Its more your tone i'm responding to than your opinion nor do I have any will to change it.. I have no intention of doing anything but talking about  gaming and debating gaming issues.
