All the fan-service/waifu husbando IS what made the 2 Fe on 3ds popular.

I can bet if you want : If Fe echoes don't have any fan-service (so, no mariage, no dlc on beach, a serious story,etc), the game will flop.

I'm not a betting man so no thanks. Idk if it would flop if it has no fan service since FE is more popular now than it has ever been. Plus, its on 3DS, so the install base can at least give it a better chance. Yes, Radiant Dawn was on the Wii and didn't do well but it was probably because FE wasn't even close to popular than it is now and it was (by word of mouth or by media) more difficult than usual (good job Nintendo by disguising the difficulties).

Sure the fan service and such are there and they stand out, but I can't say that they are the main reason why the last two games sold well. Factually, Idk, maybe there's a Japanese poll somewhere that indicated what the fans liked about these latest games.

It's probably not negliglibe, but marriage and relationships have been present in Fire Emblem for a long time, so I doubt this was the main factor. The decrease in difficulty and increase in accessibility seem like much bigger factors to its success.

Personally, I don't mind it, since I love the franchise enough that I want to see it succeed, and the common complaints people seem to level aren't mandatory anyway. I am glad Fates returned to a more classic difficulty, as that's something I felt Awakening was limited on.

So can someone explain to me what voting for a character does? The website said it gets a "special edition" of the character into the game, does that mean alternate costumes or something?

I voted for Nino (Blazing Sword), and I'll vote for Amelia (Sacred Stones) next.

I think just some special costume for said character. So guessing whover wins, will get a second artwork for n get two different versions of "ike" for example.

But it also does another thing for Nintendo. It gves them a giant list of popular characters, so they can essentially know which ones to make sure they make.
