Not really surprising, with price probably being the main issue

It's only a 2% drop on the first real day of the aftermath. Last week's drop can be easily explained by "buy the rumor, sell the fact" which is what the quoted analyst in the article did. Now it only dropped by 2% after a weekend of thinking about the information regarding Nintendo's future. Switch is obviously Nintendo's future as dedicated gaming hardware and software is their core business. A 2% drop isn't much of a negative reaction after such a crucial and important presentation for the future of a company.

Looks like the general attitude of investors is to wait and see, because they recognize potential in Switch.

I agree with you. People interpret too much into these stuff.

But since this is Nintendo we are talking about, everyone already seem to know that it is doomed.

i think too many people are over simplifying the definitions of casual & core gamers........like usual

1-2 switch is nintendo doing exactly that

not sure what you mean by that, care to elaborate?

should we be surprised?
That thing is going to bomb badly in Europe at the very least.

Also the device is clearly not aimed at casual players, and investors don't like that.

The disaster of the Switch is that its not clearly aimed at casuals or at gamers... They didn't know which market to target.

There's old gimmicks for the casuals, Zelda and Mario for the gamers, but the pricing and accessories will push away both markets.

1-2 Switch has actually managed to beat Wii Music as the most cringeworthy game reveal of all time. The good news is that it only costs 50$.

That's the good news? I should be payed $50.

That last bit was meant as heavy, heavy sarcasm...

It was a 6% drop hours after the reveal IIRC. It has continued dropping and dropped another 2%.

We already have won one battle, the prices of the accessories went down 5 euros in europe today.
-controller pro went from 75 to 70
-joycons 55 to 50
-joycon pack 85 to 80
-wheel 20 to 15

See people? Bitching works !!!!

So try and be more responsible consumers, don't buy anything at whatever price.

Trying to voice your complaints doesn't make you a hater or a troll either.

Wait what? How is the Switch NOT aimed at casuals?

- 300 bucks

- the design has too many buttons, 2 thumbsticks, and the color and shape look like a hardcore gaming device. I mean look at the Wii, look at the DS lite, now look at the Switc, spot the differences. It's pretty simple to see why they won't respond well

- Nintendo didn't make any  games using the touch screen or didn't promote the touch screen

-Too complicated for casuals too, the joy cons, the modularity. I've been saying for the last 3 months, and now a lot of the media are finally saying the same. That system tries to do so many stuffs, it gets really confusing for non-hardcore gamers

-Where are the casual games? Where is mario 2D? Animal Crossing? Mii? And so on

The only casual thing I can think of is 1.2 switch, good luck selling that 50 bucks game with a 300 bucks console to casuals. They are going to rush in to buy it...

I really don't know why people think casuals would be interested in the Switch, besides Reggie saying "we are targeting everybody, it's made for everybody".

Well then it sures looks like they tried to put everything to please everybody, but that doesn't mean that it's a good fit for the casual market.

If you don't know what it means to be casual don't say anything at all. $300 is not casual? Iphones cost $700. The color makes it hardcore? Just stop

I think a large part of is true, Switch is a fairly hardcore device (it's certainly the most "hardcore" portable machine ever made), but Nintendo will always throw more casual types a bone.

And yes it definitely looks like a serious gamer device, it looks more like something Nvidia or Microsoft made than a Nintendo system, even the Pro Controller looks like the most un-Nintendo thing Nintendo's ever made.

It is kinda surprising that it seems like there's not even one touch-based game though. Even the motion stuff of the 25 games or so they showed, only 2 require motion (1,2 Switch and Just Dance). It's not going to be a very casual device IMO. You gotta be into the Zeldas, Splatoons, Xenoblades, the open-world Mario 3D style and weird/nichey Japanese games if you're going to enjoy this platform and to do that you need to have some decent skill as a gamer.

yep, the color too makes it hardcore.

And stop comparing the price people put into an iphone (by the way most of them have a payment plan they don't just pay 700 $ upfront) and the price they would put into a dedicated gaming machine.

Most parent even prefer to buy a tablet for their kids, because they'll be able to do other things than just playing, like watching youtube.

I thought people here on VGchartz would have some knowledge of today's market, but you're like most gamers out there, blinded by your passion for gaming. Unable to see what is right in front of you.
