The person you quoted isn't reaching that far.
Having fan favorite characters lock behind hard to find Amiinos in Fire Emblem fates(Robin, Lucina, etc), was pretty gross.

Remember when Nintendo sold it's console for $150 less than the competition and it came with a free game? Remember when Nintendo games cost ten dollars less than other games? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
For real though, I own almost every Nintendo console and handheld since the NES. Even I agree that they are being money grubbing bastards right now.
This changes every once in a while, but right now it's Nintendo.

'member when the hardware were a generation behind? 'member when the cost of making such games was significantly lower due to them not being HD, not having Voice Acting, or realistic graphics/CGI?
I 'member.

The hardware is still a generation behind (maybe 2), most Nintendo games don't have realistic graphics and very little voice acting. It still doesn't justify $80 joycons or $90 docks that are basically TV outs.

I think it's a UK / US english thing, never heard anyone say money-grubbing here before in uk. Google tells me it's the other way round in the US so looks like you've taught me something.
Nintendo, but it's clear that their practices work because they're the only handheld makers left.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Price comparison of all consoles adjusted for inflation, just to have some facts for comparison sake

Except those character would not be there if they wouldnt have the incentive from amiibo and 90% of the cases amiibo content is completely insignificant, little touches of fanservice thats it. I find amazing the way people just cant see the difference, just as they cant see that this thing is not an abstract virtual thing you waste money on, no, is actually a high quality figure you can keep forever, what dlc does that?
| John2290 said: Nintendo. They never drop price or do any sales. Amibo is worse than any DLC or micro transactions. Virtual console classic games are ridiculously priced. Super mario Run is a 10 euro mobile app....? Da fuq. They are an old company trying to deny the future and by doing so they drop behind the competition and as it is now they are getting locked out of future competition with the the other two. Also, the whole copyright everything approach which is petty and self destructive. |
Really good explanation. Let's not forget either that their hardware is usually previous gen tech with current gen price tag.
