My case is very similar lol

I'm happy because I'm not getting the Switch at launch but I will be able to feel it and play it frequently since day 1 :P

The employee in my nearest Game store said they were surprised on how well the Switch is doing in pre-orders. He said 3000 first day, which is not bad at all for Spain. Also, BOTW limited edition is gone for good XD.

The first two weeks of January are basically the slowest sales period for any existing system and Switch has pent up demand as a new system that's accepting its first pre-orders.

It should easily outsell the PS4/XB1 in this specific situation, it would be a giant red flag if it didn't.

Also Amazon I don't think was even selling the Wii U in 2012:

I was going to post this if no one else did.  Amazon.com wasn't taking pre-orders or even directly selling Nintendo consoles at the time of the Wii U's launch.  I would hope the Switch could beat that pretty easily.

Otherwise, launch numbers mean very little unless they're terrible.  Die-hard fans and scalpers turn out heavy during the first week for pretty much anything.  Supplies are also often limited, further obscuring the results and making direct comparisons to other products very difficult.

It's expensive, but, thinking about it, they still have room for a price cut, so no worries atm. They're banking on their fandom. I think a price cut will happen in holidays if the thing struggles. With the really good catalogue they have this year, I think it could do well.

Yeah, it's a pretty good catalogue too, but what does it have to do with what I was saying? God, console wars.
