Forums - Nintendo - FAST RMX for Switch (FAST Racing Neo Remaster) is 1080p/60fps while on Wii U runs sub 720p

The official site claims it's 1080p 60fps, the Wii U verison ran sub 720p (540p I think).

good looking game!

When I first saw the tease for this during the Switch Presentation, I thought it was a new F zero game!

Not surprising. Shin'en are experienced developers.

A shame I just got Fast Racing Neo early last year. But I have had fun with it so no regrets. Hard as balls but a fun game, for those that have not tried it, think F-Zero with a steep mastery curve as each track has environmental hazards that can and will mess you up. EXTREMELY beautiful to look at when you aren't dying in a firey explosions however.

So the Switch gets Fast racing Neo and Redout. Yet Nintendo wasn't able to reboot Fzero during either the Wii or Wii U era.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I thought this was only coming out for the Switch :p

Still, great to see

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I wish Nintendo would just buy Shin'en and let them make the next F-Zero.

Fast Racing Neo on Wii U is 720p, but it's a reconstructed 720p, where certain elements in the scene are rendered at variable resolutions. So it's less than full fat 720p, but a lot better than 540p. They may be using a similar technique here though, so the thread title may not be accurate. We also don't know if it's simply a remaster, as the amount of tracks that are new hasn't been confirmed. It could be a new game that simply features some retro tracks from FRN, like the recent Mario Kart entries.

At any rate, ever since the GBA, Shin'en have always managed to extract some of the best graphics from Nintendo hardware, and it looks like Switch will be no different.

Some more gameplay with commentary from the game's director, who confirms 60fps in 2-player splitscreen, and says the Switch is easy to develop for:

Nice improvement!
