But there`s an important point you just mentioned. Price. You may think it`s expensive, but, consumer wise, the price itself doesn`t matter. If the person seems value to it, they are going to pay for it, unless they just can`t pay it in anyway.

Sometimes trying to go cheap could have hurted more than helped.

Definitely, just that it's competing with the PS4 and Xbox and pricing it within the same price ranges will definitely affect sales

I too think the price is a bit high but compare this.

When Switch launches it will be the same price as the 3.5 year old PS4/XBO which will have sold a combined 80+ million by then.

When DS launched in late 2004, it was the same price as the 3 year old Xbox and 4 year old PS2 which had sold a combined 90+ million by that point.

Despite being weaker, having less games, worse online features, worse multimedia features than PS2/Xbox and an unproven "gimmick", DS sold over 14 million by the end of 2005. Also note that this was before DS became a huge hit.

I'm not sure the Joy cons are an improvement over Wii. Wii had accurate pointing capabilities thanks to the fixed IR bar. The Joy cons have relative position tracking, which is not as accurate. I think it's going to be waggle controls basically, which were not the most popular use of motion controls on Wii.

How do you know that?

You forgot to add "in japan" to the end of the sentence

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I agree with OP, the JoyCons are amazing! Can't wait to have them in my hands.

Actually I think it will be the downfall of the Switch. Wii U was killed because of a controller that was expensive and they didn't figure out what to use it for. To me it looks like the Joy cons are the same thing, but mixed in with a Wiimote. At least the Wiimotes were cheap and didn't affect the price of the machine.

Wiimotes weren't cheap they were the most expensive controllers at the time as a Wiimote and nunchuck cost £45 -£50 here in UK compared to the £30 of other controllers and that's before we addin the factor of the WMP add on 2 years later which added another £15 to the price if you wanted to play certain games until they released the built in model. Joycons at least can function as two controllers per pair and don't look to require any future add ons for now.

That HD vibration sounds exciting. But the most important do we know if they will do man sized joycons?

They were cheap. At least they were competitve against other console makers. These are running for $80 for a set and that isn't cheap. Its the most expensive controller in the business outside of the Xbox One Elite controller.

Retail is price is not the same as production price.
