Forums - Nintendo - There is no reason to act like Nintendo will never cut switch price!

A month after launch? I'd figure E3 at best. More likely the fall.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Around the Network

So will the competition

nothing makes the product look commercially strong and makes your early adopters feel good about their purchase like a significant price drop early in the products lifecycle...

Honestly if "they'll cut it at some point" means we shouldn't be concerned about the high price now why don't we take that to it's logical conclusion?  Put the price at 600 dollars with a 100 dollar price cut at random averaging out to a cut every 2 months.  That way you can get all the money from the crazy NIntendo fans that'll buy it at any cost.  For everyone else it'll be cut before long so what's the issue?

:)

Essentially, this is what I'm saying in the op... hahah

Have you seen the price of the Pro controller? and the Joy controllers?

I notee in the op that I'm fearing of the manufacturing cost of these things...

High price doesn't always mean high manufacturing cost though!

I-phone costs 199-220$ to be made and apples sells it for more than 700$!

Wii costed 99$ and Nintendo sold it for 250$!

Ive said it before, I really hope this price is just nintendo being greedy and takeing it out on the die hard early adopters.

I hope its cheap to make, and they have room to price drop it, if it sells bad at its current price.

It would be bad, if they actually somehow spent too much on the joy-con's and HD rumble thingy, IR sensors and ect gimmicks, and they couldnt lower it for along time.

i think stores would riot.

target has this:

Price Match Guarantee

We’ll match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target then find the identical item for less at Target.com, select online competitors, or in Target’s or competitor’s local print ad. Price matches may be requested at time of purchase or Price adjustments within 14 days after purchase. The full list of online competitors is available online or at Guest Services.

if a product launches at one price then is just immediatly reduced in price after the early adapter get there target will match the price drop within 14 days of purchase.  i think most other stores (like walmart) have similar things.

everyone's expectation is that early and frequent price drops are only for failing products.

PlayStation 3 and XB1 being $599 at launch didn't matter because it dropped later. People who whined back then were exaggerating.

Not sure if serious but... The PlayStation 3 never fully recovered after its failed launch and just barely passed the X360 at the end of its life. From the 160 Millions PS2, they got to 80 Millions PS3.

The Xbox One, even today, never recovered from its really difficult first months and had to abandon the Kinect in order to stay in the competition, but never managed to look like a real competitor to the PS4 because of the big gap in sales in this first year: the competition was already over.

You're right, people were exaggerating, these price never did any harm to their respective console...

If not then Nintendo is utterly stupid to repeat the case of wii u...

I didn't bought wii u, as I couldn't afford it, I won't buy switch at that price! That doesn't make me a less loyal fan... I won't starve to purchase a switch!

( Although, if it's really 3ds successor too, then I can digest it, as I'm interested in both gaming ways, so instead of 500$ for two machines, only 300$ for one hybrid )

If something they had to learn from the wii u, that would be to make something that has the leeway for significant price cuts!

Come on lol of course I was being sarcastic

“Simple minds have always confused great honesty with great rudeness.” - Sherlock Holmes, Elementary (2013).

"Did you guys expected some actual rational fact-based reasoning? ...you should already know I'm all about BS and fraudulence." - FunFan, VGchartz (2016)

I think you should change your thread title to something else.....I don't see anyone saying that they will NEVER cut the price of the Switch....they are saying that the LAUNCH price is to high....Of course they will eventually cut the price.....doesn't change the fact that the launch price is to high IMO.
