Play Zelda on the Wii U, and wait to see if this "ton of support" arrives someday (it's still pretty far...). You'll be able to buy a Switch then.

Its first year is looking better than the Wii U! But thats my opinion. And your theory sounds possible. 

It sounds like you will basically have to buy the Switch this holiday. If you love Mario so much I doubt you will be able to skip on Odyssey.

Well Zelda alone is worth it for me, just imagine getting back from shops with a sleek shiny gorgeous looking new Nintendo console and setting it up knowing you gonna be playing the best zelda game since OoT on it. Yeah now compare that to buying BotW on Wii u a console you know is dead, when 2 million other people are playing zelda on the switch, you gonna be mad or chill?

If you can live without the games, then save your money.

Buy one. You can still sell it later on. And maybe it's just the current state, but it could happen that the moment you wanna buy it, it will not be available. The Wii U is dead. So, the last game purchase for me was Paper Mario Color Splash.

Yeah this is why despite all the stuff I was saying earlier, I'll likely still end up getting a Switch. There's simply no way I'll be able to resist Splatoon 2. It'll cost a grand total of $430 + online fee to play the game, but it'll be well worth it! Hell I'm even thinking I may aswell get a Switch a launch so I can play the superior version of BotW.

I think Switch is going to sell very well at launch, and then fall off extreamly sharp. I was going to get it at launch, but now with the $299.99 price and the lack of titles at launch, I am going to wait for November and try to pick it up for either $249.99 or $299.99 with Super Mario Odyssey.

Even as a non U owner, that has no way to play Zelda at launch, I will be waiting tell I get my Switch this fall.

I doubt that Nintendo will drop in price soon. It has Nvidia hardware in it, and Nvidia can be expensive. And I also doubt that we will see a drop for the next 2-3 years in price. So... paying 300 $ now or later is the difference in playing earlier on or later.

You have also to consider certain publishers, because they look at the installbase. The bigger it is, the more willing they are in developing games for the console.
