Even as a non U owner, that has no way to play Zelda at launch, I will be waiting tell I get my Switch this fall.

I doubt that Nintendo will drop in price soon. It has Nvidia hardware in it, and Nvidia can be expensive. And I also doubt that we will see a drop for the next 2-3 years in price. So... paying 300 $ now or later is the difference in playing earlier on or later.

You have also to consider certain publishers, because they look at the installbase. The bigger it is, the more willing they are in developing games for the console.
