They couldn't sell a handheld for $300 so they market it as a home console. Plus Switch is just too large for a handheld.

A handheld gamer only (for now).

I thought it was.

Hmm, pie.

True. They also couldnt sell handheld games for 60 bucks.

I doubt you can try and introduce something as a handheld and say with a straight face that its battery could last 2.5 hours.

No, the thing looks too bulky to be a proper handheld. As it stands, it fails as a home console (underpowered) and as a handheld (unless you like carrying around something akin to the Wii U gamepad).

So all 3DS owners will switch to mobile?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

thats one of the main disappointments from the presentation for me.

Should have been that way, but then the price makes even less sense.

the price is probably that high because nintendo doesnt want to sell the hardware at a loss.

I dont think it matters, kinda have to use your mind and come to your own conclusions. Marketing as a handheld will be good in Japan because they love handhelds over there, im not sure about the US which is probably why they might market it more as a console, which they shouldnt do but if they dont that would be them admitting they dont make home consoles anymore and thats not gonna happen.

If it was shown this way, would you be more impressed with its capabilities?

I would and the only detraction would be it being a handheld costing 300$ (and no pokemon,at least not yet)

P.S. this is my first thread, so help me if ive done anything wrong, thanks :)

No. Every handheld marketed as a console has FAILED. TurboExpress 1990. Was a handheld marketed as a portable console because it played TurboGrafx16 games. TG16 came ou in 88 so system was imppressive froma tech standpoint. 1995 SEGA Nomad handheld SEGA Genesis and plugged into the TV. High price low battery life. Vita marketed as a Handheld that can also be a console with PSVita TV. Nintendo did it right. A console that is portable.

I've absolutely no idea what the rest will do, but I'm sure as hell not changing my 3DS for this thing, mobile is certainly an option. That or cross fingers and wish for Nintendo to release a more traditional handheld again in the future.
