If your new console can't push much more than the previous one there isn't much point in making a new one.

It pushes much more than the 3DS and Vita.

Nintendo again markets it as a home console.

The reason new games on new consoles generally look better is because the new console has a huge performance advantage and the devs just through extra things in until the machine chokes. Refinement usually games later in the cycle. The reason there is no huge gap IQ wise is because Nintendo went with w hybrid strategy, constructing the leap in raw performance. Add the higher resolution, fps and some extra's and there is not much left to throw at the switch before it chokes. Not to mention a lot of these games started out on Wii U and see essentially ported over to switch.

Why they don't still include Wii U versions then? Well for one, the install base isn't that big so they would probably lose a lot of money on those projects. Second, they can't reduce Wii U price a lot without investing a ton of money to make it cheaper to produce. So I get it. Wii U is just end of life. Nothing much more to it really. If you like that or agree with the strategy doesn't change that.

The new mario game Im not sure would have been able to run on a wii U.
Apart from that? yeah everything could have run on wii u imo.

I thought mario odyssey looked graphically amazing, much better than 3d world.

What did you expect, considering the specs? Really, what did you expect?

Yes it does, still some users swear it's a desk console only because of the dock. And for HH they still have the tablets and cellphones to try and beat, is a lot bigger than PSVita and 3DS (don't you think if Sony decided to do a next portable it wouldn't be more powerfull than Switch?)

Exactly

That it didn't cost over 300 euros?

I don't think I've still seen official confirmation for that. Anyway, we're talking about graphics here, so what does the price have to do with it? Specs considered, the games look just like you'd expect. If it's the price you want to criticize, there's other threads for that. (And I agree, if the euro price is over 300, that's horrible, because even the dollar price is a bit salty.)

I think the OP is right. The city sections of Odyssey looked terrible. Which just proves that art-style can really help with hiding a systems limitations. Of course sensible people have always known this.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

When a new system costs a certain amount you'll usually expect that it have a certain performance. And there were a lot of people expecting miracles even from these specs.
