I can believe the level of how dismissive people are right now. We saw very little of the game and it gets labeled for having a super generic style based on that? Usually it's the blocky going for realism style that get criticized. Never thought I'd see Nintendo fans attacking a game for being cell-shaded. Dislike some of the character design sure (the pants on MC are Kingdom Hearts bad), but this style is FAR better suited for the hardware.

That doesn't look bad in any way.

Doesn't look good in any way either. Looks generic.

Look like one of those typical tale of games, generic. But it's better than that big eyed models.

I don't understand your definition of generic. The last game that looked like this was released 9 years ago. Please tell where all of these large 3D JRPGs with a cell-shaded art style are.

See Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Tales Of, half the Vita library of jrpgs, new Fire Emblem.

Tales of hasn't been cell-shaded since Tales of Vesperia, which was the game I was talking about with the  9 years comment. None of the Vita RPGs that are cell-shaded (plenty of beautiful 2D or top down ones) that the scope of Xenoblade 2 or Tales of Vesperia. By new Fire Emblem, you're referring to FE Warriors? The normal FE games are low budget SRPG that isn't close in scope.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a good comparison, but again, it's a lot of static environments and empty dungeons. The art style helps pretty up what would be a ugly game.

Games with this art style hold up over time. Dragon Quest 8 is still a pretty game and will continue to age well. I don't see how something so uncommon can be called generic unless you're just referring to character design.

How long a series has been cell shaded doesn't mean the style isn't a generic anime style. Sorry to inform you.

Add Persona 5 to that list.

You didn't actually respond to any of what I've said. The anime style isn't changed at all from previous Xeno games. This type, the character and art aren't ugly. So I guess ugly anime style isn't generic?

I can't believe I'm defending a Switch exclusive so much.

I'm just disappointed with the design for the main character in blue. His design looks kinda dumb, but the other characters look great.

Why would I bother arguing with you over your opinion. Lol.
