Fable legends, scalebound, crackdown, sea of theives. = all heavily focused on multiplayer.
Has microsoft given up on single player games? and those elements in games? |
Well they will have Halo Wars 2, and Forza 7 next year which will probably have a SP focus.

It wont happen.
This is sad stuff. I am surprised, but I shouldn't because the signs were all there though. That being said I am stunned by the outpour I am seeing over this game to be honest.

Wow that is major. The concept and environments seemed good but the execution and gameplay seems on the boring side to me but still this is a major loss to Xbox One.
yikes, considering this was arguably one of the most hyped Xbox One exclusives
granted some of the reception to the latest footage a while back wasn't the most positive, but still

From Neogaf: by ShockingAlberto. "Ah, here's what I was looking for MS probably bares a big part of the burden of why this game ended up as it did. |

Uh... Or maybe it was just a crap game whose developer couldn't manage it with the number of other games on their plate? More hardware power doesn't need to translate to huge development costs. But realistically speaking, the vast majority of AAA games are of genres which existed 10 years ago. |
You forgot to quote the rest of my reasoning. It's not just the extra work for the graphics, it's that the game needs to be a jack of all trades to justify the budget for the looks. Much less graphical details to fill out the world with, results in needing smaller budgets and less development time. Ofcourse it's their own fault for showing off a target render before being clear on the scope of the game. (Or maybe MS is to blame there)
More hardware power doesn't have to translate to huge development cost, yet sadly, hugely detailed open worlds is what is expected nowadays to justify that hardware power. Add 4 player co-op with endless gameplay and development soon spirals out of control. Plus these mid gen refreshes are adding extra strain, not making it easier with a bit more headroom.
I'm fine with the smaller more simplictic looking PSVR games that utilize the hardware to better present those far less detailed worlds. Yet there's plenty that write it off as ugly and not worthy to be called real games.
I hope Horizon Zero dawn turns out allright. Another dev taking a shot at openworld. Hopefully GG didn't get overwhelmed with feature creep and has a decent core game.
It's sad, I didn't even care about this game for the past few years. It was just a few weeks ago when I was looking at what I had to look forward to buying on the console this year that I thought "Oh yeah, Scalebound. I think I'll pick that up when it comes out." But I guess not.

Anything with MS and a Japanese dev is going to get trashed. In fact after this, anything else seemingly good from their end will be gutted time and time again. Despite a lot of other comapnies out there doing bad shit, MS will keep getting the main punishment till the end of the gen, if not nexy gen as well. The image has already been created for how this gen will look and it will please those who love partaking in the silly war all the more.
OT:
I'm also loving this totally not newfound hatred for MP based games. Not like Overwatch got any bad rap for being MP only, no sir.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
| Fei-Hung said: Wonder what this means for PG as they seemed to be on a streak. It's a shame for those that were looking forward to this. |
arguably not on a streak lately at all, their Starfox game (albeit not their fault) was overall a disappointment since it seemed mostly just like a reskin, and their Ninja Turtles game (despite highly anticipated) was a mega disaster
its been a big downfall for Platinum Games of late, not sure what is going on with them
