Biggest surprises - Death Stranding announced. i didnt expect this to happen until a year or two from when it happened

Biggest dissapointments - No Mans Sky. turned out to be a game i wouldnt enjoy, will probably never play it. for honor dropping split screen and delay, Horizon and South Park delays.

Genre of the year - Action RPG. between playing ME2/3 and replaying the witcher 3, then playing both expansions, its my genre of the year

Most anticipated game 2017/18 - from announced games its Horizon, but thats because its so close to release. generally its Red Dead 2. 

Favourite game of the 8th gen - The Witcher 3. this is probably my favorite game of all time as well

Severed - DrinkBox has a proven track record, but I was suprised by Severed's mechanical depth and level design
Song of the Deep - it doesn't look like anything special but this is the best "Metroidvania" in a while
RIVE - I though Two Tribes might mail in their final game, but it's a hidden gem
Pokken Tournament - what could have been a cycnical cash grab turned into the best fighter of the year
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - like most of the human race I though IW looked terrible, but the campaign is the best in a decade

Biggest dissapointments - 
TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan - this lifeless mess was especially disappointing after the solid Transformers: Devastation
Zero Time Dilemma - a pale shadow of the brilliant Virtue's Last Reward
