After reading a few pages in this thread, I have something to say.

Trolling is not about being negative, or about being a fanboy. It's not about showing how other people are wrong. It's not even about taking threads a little off topic. It's about continually trying to ridicule others with insulting posts. That's it. If you think that trolling is about continually trying to get a rise out of somebody I have bad news for you. Virtually *any* post can be viewed in that manner. It's entirely subjective, and that sort of view on what trolling is leads to a witchhunt.

I've never had a problem with Kerotan. Rol is one of my favorite users on the site, because he's not afraid to speak the truth. There's only one or two people on this site that I genuinely think are trolls, but even their trolling is not severe enough to bother reporting to the mods.

TL/DR stop the witchhunt. Ban people for being continually insulting to others. Not for speaking their minds.

You can speak your mind and still be insulting. Trolling doesn't have a strict meaning, and most of the time, that's not what gets people moderated for "insults" (which is an entirely different moderation).

Trolling, in and of itself, won't land you a moderation. It is habit and growth of continued behavior that warrants moderations. It's actually very easy to avoid moderations. Plenty of users have spoken their minds and remain moderation-free.

From what I've seen you only target users that do absolutley nothing but post the same thing over and over, with the same exact agenda. I do disagree with your definition of trolling, since it lands in the realm of subjectivity, but the methods used by the mod team as a whole aren't something I disagree with. People get warning after warning and chance after chance. Sure, the definition of trolling used by the mod team is a big grey area, but it's not like a user has ever been instantly perma-banned under the application of this hazy-definition.

Two is the sum of one and one. That is clearly defined. Lots of things can be clearly defined. We call those things Objective.

Right ... so instead of replying to my actual point you're going to be a smart ass. Hey, maybe you should join Kerotan in the ban chamber! x D

But I'm being serious.

No, they souldn't be free to call them an idiot. If you disagree with someone you should just do your best to be civil. Throwing around insults at specific people is the opposite of civility. Also, whether or not someone is an idiot isn't a matter of opinion. Opinion doesn't mean "Whatever someone thinks is true". Under that definition everything is an Opinion and there are no facts.

I know what an opinion is. And I know that people can hold the opinion that someone is an idiot. I never even mentioned facts, so I've no idea why you are even talking about that.

And I agree people should try to be civil, but that applies to more than just not insulting other users. Do you really not think any of the following posts are trolling just because they don't have personal insults (and they may be someone's opinion)?
"Xbox is shit"
" @ that new Nintendo flop. Totally deserved!"
"Why haven't Sony released a good PS4 exclusive yet? They all suck!"

Those are all opinions that someone could genuinely have.

"Xbox is shit" - This is just a really vulgar way of putting what the majority of the community here already thinks of Xbox.

"Nintendo flop totally deserved!" - What if they are talking about Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer?

"Why haven't Sony released a good exclusive? They all suck!" - People are free to think that. Whether a game is good or not is 90% subjective anyway.

I, myself, don't "target" anyone, but as a Team, we have a thing with "Hot" users. Which makes sense, obviously, given a user who doesn't cause any friction won't be one to watch.

Also, I didn't define Trolling, I said you can commit acts of Trolling and still not be moderated.

It (i.e. Trolling) is habit and growth of continued behavior that warrants moderations. That's what I thought you meant. My mistake.

Your correction has nothing to do with the discussion. I was talking about morality as a whole which is subjective. But you're technically right, sorry my liege.

Ok, so you meant that nothing can be clear when it comes to ethics. I thought you meant in general. As in everything was up to interpretation, and there was no objective truth to anything.

While I'd agree that none of those (well, maybe the Xbox one) would deserve a ban on their own, when the same users are consistently posting similar stuff in just about every thread related to the topic. eg. mocking sales performance in every sales thread or complaining about exclusives on a console being rubbish in every thread about that console... they are quite clearly doing that intentionally just to be annoying, rather than merely sharing their opinion aren't they?

Do I deserve a ban? Everytime Xbox exclusives come up I point out that they don't have any. So does the majority of the community. It's taken as fact these days that they don't have anything.

It's true they don't release much first party exclusives compared to Sony and Nintendo. And when they do, it's either part of their three pillar franchises, or some odd title once a year.

That depends, are you a dick about it?

Not sure if I'm a dick about it or not. Check my post history and decide for yourself.

But I think you may be onto something here. It's not just about making the same posts over and over again. It's largely about the tone a.k.a "being a dick about it".

I think we can agree that there is a difference between...

LOOOOOOOOLLLLL XB1 COULDN"T EVEN MEET 3DS SALES THIS WEEK! HOW PATHETIC! WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THOSE SILLY XBOXER CEOS DOING?

and

Wow, they didn't even meet 3DS sales this week. I thought for sure that they would have with the release of Forza 6. That's a shame.

By themselves, they're trolling/baiting type of comments but if more was written with those to give them context or to explain them then likely they're not at all.
