Hm. I'm thinking a new record was set for "longest tenured member to be permabanned". Godspeed. Or whatever. Never had a bead on his authenticity.

who ate the hammer of bans?

Edit - ah... I see now, honestly his posts on here were infuriating at times, guy claimed to have social issues but I've never seen someone so capable of throwing pity parties for themselves, his gender, skin colour, time of birth, ugliness.... every thing that was ever wrong was out of his hands. Some of his comments @women btw... would almost guarantee that if there was a girl lurking these forums reading his thoughts... she wouldn't make an account here over some of them.

Will say as well, that a great number of people in the community here tried their hardest to point him in the direction of help, both social help and offering him professional help with regards his CV and improving his quality of life, he told anyone seriously offering him help to fuck off, he rathered be in a situation where his mindset of "no one will help me" be true, even if it meant completely ignoring those who tried.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I don't think they were a bot.

Is what it is. Clearly we had a difference of opinion... That didn't get in the way of the moderation though, none of it was personal. - (If anyone starts delving into conspiracy theories!)
Plus I don't really like to entertain pity parties.

I didn't reply to their posts because I thought they might change... I knew that wasn't going to happen. - But rather replied in the hopes that those browsing the thread will see another more grounded perspective.

But yeah. The posts did seem like bait. - They would post something controversial, wait for a few replies... Then post something controversial again that is often on a completely different topic without addressing any of the prior replies.
It just wasn't constructive.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

...and now for my 500th post, "PPPPEEEEEENNNNNNIIIIISSSSSSS"..., lol, don't moderate me. Happy 4th! all, foreign and domestic.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Just a question for the mods. Since when is arguing a bunch a bannable offense? I've seen way too many people banned on these forums for arguing with others. They weren't calling people names, or breaking any other clear cut rules. I understand that some users may be really damned stubborn, and keep arguing way past the point where they've lost the argument. I've done it myself on occasion. But is that really grounds for a ban, or even a permaban?

Some people see things in such a light that there is almost no chance of changing their mind. I get it. It's annoying to see those users flood a thread with pointless back and forth over an argument that they probably lost ten replies ago. But a permaban? Really?

Other longtime users have basically up and left the site because they were tired of getting 5 day bans for the same reason as stated above. A lot of these users happened to be fun IMO for about 3/4ths of the time, with the occasional endless debate popping up. But again, I don't think annoying behavior like that deserves a ban.

The number of longtime users that have been permabanned, or left the site in disgust is way too high.

It's clear who you're referring to here, and I'd just like to add onto what @the-pi-guy has said and clear something up.

He wasn't permabanned "just for arguing", but based on a multitude of things. He's been a problem user for a while now, and has constantly been harassing both the mod team and users in one way or another. By the end of last year it got to the point where, rather than getting rid of him there and then, we decided to extend the olive branch, we gave him a choice; he had one more chance to sort himself out and drop his bad habits. After the 60 day ban we gave him (Which is the longest we've given anyone that I'm aware of) we thought that was it, but recently he came back and has had his disruptive fingers in pies all around the forums.

As I told him in his ban note, he was actually meant to be permabanned last week for his behaviour in another thread, as was agreed upon in his previous 60 day ban note, but as I had a lot of things going on at the time, I overlooked it and gave him a week long ban instead, only realising my mistake shortly after applying it.

So yeah, fastforward to the present where he was given an accidental second chance and blew it, we saw no improvement in his behaviour, still arguing with people, we had reports of harassment, flaming, trolling, and he also sent us some strongly worded emails upon his ban too, all of which sort of proved he couldn't live up to his part of the deal we made back in November.

And that's why he's been permabanned. I could go into more detail but don't think I need to, as I feel I've clarified the reason here.

I see. Sounds like he was sending some nasty PMs to other users then.

Someone's missing from the mod team......Mod fight? I have my money on mod fight.

Hey, can we have a new rule for Official Metacritic/Opencritic threads?

Everytime one of these threads gets posted there's always people that delve into how reviewers are corrupt, bribed, etc. I understand their concerns, but it's not fun having the same discussion every time one of these threads pops up. Can there be a containment thread for the merits of review outlets or something? Talking about how review outlets are all corrupt, or reviews don't matter in a review thread is just off topic IMO.

P.S. If I ever talk about or respond to this sort of nonsense in Metacritic/Opencritic threads again, just give me a 5 day ban. Thanks.

Thank goodness I can filter Politics threads now.
