Hello mods. In the ban bets thread, WolfpackN64 mentioned that he was banned from political threads. Is that true? And if so, what was the reasoning? I'd prefer not to get banned from them myself, so it'd be helpful if I knew.

Hello, VGPolyglot. There is a misunderstanding. WolfpackN64 gets repeatedly banned in political threads, but he has not been banned from posting in political threads altogether. |
His post said this:
WolfpackN64 said: The mod team is far too busy banning me from political threads for them to consider ban bets :) |
So, I assumed he meant that he was banned from posting in political threads.

You don't get banned from political threads just for having an opinion that we disagree with or for having an unpopular opinion. Wolfpack gets banned for saying things like "you're a total idiot" repeatedly. |
OK. So I guess I should be safe, then.

Hard data key clues or soft key clues? Asking for a friend.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
So, can we lock threads about port begging. It's literally the most insufferable conversations based on zero fact or evidence.

I have no problems with locking port begging threads.

It wouldn't be as annoying if they were based on actual information or weren't so repetitive in nature, but it's something to watch out for.
Can we have a discussion about emulation and piracy for a bit because I feel like this is sorta getting out of hand. Every time someone has a thread about emulation, it more often than not leads to talk about piracy even though the OP has nothing to do with piracy. Some of us actually like playing certain games at higher resolution with better performance and mods believe it or not while supporting the devs...
The people in this site who generally are interested in emulation usually either own the system or own the game or both. Yea there is a legal gray area and blah blah blah but virtually everyone in this site knows that. Does every single emulation thread have to result in piracy talk? Because imo, that should be considered off-topic if the OP has nothing to do with piracy... If people want to discuss emulation and piracy, they should make their own thread imo.

For games not even a month old? Yes. We aren't talking about wii games on dolpin. We are talking about huge games that haven't even been out a month. Infact we are talking about companies MAKING MONEY off this. It isn't just "I'm downloading a DVD" it is a company making 40k a month doing so. I'm surprised the website even allows talk of it. "Do not post links to or requests for copyrighted content. This is pretty well black and white - posting links to, or requests for, copyrighted content can and will get you banned. Copyrighted material includes, but is not limited to: copies of games, ROMs of console games (not including wholly from scratch creations, subject to any licenses said creations may have), and leaked versions of not-yet-released games, even ones that will be freely available in the future. Feel free to defend and discuss piracy in general, but don't use the forums as a means of sharing pirated content." |
And??? This isn't about whether or not a game is a month old or a decade old, this is about putting piracy into a topic that isn't about piracy... So what if say Zelda isn't a month old? I own a Switch, I own BoTW and hell yes I am also going to play it on my PC at 4k.
If people want to ban emulation threads for good then do it but lets not beat around at this nonsense... Either make piracy and emulation two seperate things or ban emulation all together.
And I don't see how emulation is violating that rule, it's not posting links or requests to copyrighted content... It even says you can feel free to defend and discuss piracy. But there is no rule against emulation.
