There is now a feature to hide your tags. I am not a fan of this decision either to be honest, since I think it should be very clear from a person's profile whether they're on the staff team or not.

I asked Talon if he could remove my supporter banner, and he was nice enough to say he would do it. Then shortly after, decided to make it an option for everybody. It doesn't REALLY bother me that a few mods have removed theirs, but do agree with you that it would be better if they were visible among staff.

I only removed mine to test the feature, and to see if it actually worked on moderators. I was too lazy to put it back on, because mobile VGC is trash.

Hmm, I'm not sure if you're talking about anything in particular, but in a general scale I'd normally agree, except sometimes the thing killing you is also keeping you alive. For example, an overreactive immune system can attack your body and potentially kill you, but the immune system is essential in keeping you alive.
