This isn't an official mod question, but one of my own little questions for anyone interested.

What would the overall reaction be to the mod team removing problematic members of the community who don't actually "break the rules" with the posts they're making? We can all see and point out specific members (right or wrong) who continually cause problems in threads, get other members into trouble and remain unscathed thanks to the rule set. They're poisonous to any real discussion and I think the forum would be better off without them.

The best way to solve any problem is to remove the cause of that problem.

It's been something I've wanted the moderators to do for a long, long time.

I can think of a couple people I'd like to nominate, one of which just lurched forth from the darkness a couple days ago after an extended absence.....Really though, I'm sorry to say I don't think it the best idea. Would there be some kind of vote? Or would the mods make all the decisions? I think it would be a mess, and just look bad. Besides, shit disturbers keep things interesting and fun to some degree.

I am for it but I think it is something that should be only used in the worse situations. Something that really is ever used in like two to three years time frame once.

I'd be for it. There are certain users that constantly troll me because of my controversial opinions and it drags threads into the gutter. We'd be better off without them.

Im one of those guys arent I? Btw not sure if you havent notice but if im correct i think this means toward you. That said if it is i just think you should restrain yourself from saying anything nintendo related in the MC threads.

This is just to help you out. Im the idiot here who jumps at people (like yourself) when i know i should just ignore them. In my defense however i have been ignoring you for months because i didnt want to annoy good posters but i have a limit

I am against this for some reason.

Where would something like this end?  Labeling someone as poisonous or not adding to any real discussion will vary among the moderators' and users' biases, opinions, mood of the day, interpretation of such posts, and predetermined labels of users.  Might as well just take a poll of all users on here and find out the majority view point then ban everyone in the minority and create a giant echo chamber.

I personally don't mind the occasional dumb ass (I've made silly posts I wish I could have taken back), or trolling, or fanboy wars and arguments; it makes the reading interesting.  What makes this site attractive to me is the diversity of mind sets and nations of origins.  This site has some of the smartest people on the planet and dumbest, but I love most of them.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

I think the more reasonable method here would be to target those specific individuals and actually start infracting them for rule breaks that are usually not enforced. You'd see them gone in no time. The most toxic people on here are complete morons and will not be able to adjust their style. A perma ban is only a matter of time then.

I'd approve. Getting rid of members for venomous behaviour isn't much different from permabanning them for constantly breaking rules, as far as I'm concerned. Both serve the same purpose.

Being part of the community is not a right. Sure, you're free to choose your poor attitude over the community but if you do you should no longer be part of it.
