My favorite is SMB3 def. NES is the only console i didnt own so i played very few. SNES though... So many great hits for me!

As for the number 1 NES game for me, I would say Megaman 2.Never owned a NES, but I did emulate some of its games, and Ill say, Megaman 2 is still an excellent game to this day.Its certainly a timeless title.

the Legend of Zelda

It wins by a little margin over SMB3.

Both games very magical, deep, intense, defining many generations to come but Zelda was bigger, with reply value once finished.

You had to think and explore, the map that came with the game was an amazing touch, like first and only times that has ever happen to me, you had to think outside the screen, the game became real, tangible.

Amazing! never felt like this again... until SMGalaxy.

Castlevania 2, Dragon Warrior 3, SMB3, Final Fantasy, Metroid.

Yea Mario Bros 3 for me. First game I ever played on the system and it got me addicted.

My favorite NES game is the original Super Mario Bros.

Mega Man 2

Very hard to limit this list, but I'd say I got the most mileage out of these:

Legend of Zelda (I go back to this one frequently, as recently as a week ago on 3DS Virtual Console)
Super Mario Bros 2 (I don't care if it was Doki Doki Panic, still always loved it)
Final Fantasy (and II and III)

Tecmo Super Bowl (and Tecmo Bowl until Super Bowl improved upon it in every way)
