Don't know what to expect because MS is all over the place when it comes to things like this. This is so far away that I'll wait until a month or two out before I believe anything they say.

Oh, you guarantee that?
Then I will preorder the Scorpio instantly!

MS have been pretty open about this. No generations, forward and backwards compatibility.

I bet all three of my special balloons on it.

And how are you differentiating "ninth-gen games" from cross-gen games we've always had in the past?

Scorpio would probably last just as long as the 9th gen consoles. The difference between xbox scorpio and "xbox 2" will be about 2tflops in terms of gpu. Run all the games, just on lower rez/fps.

Reading what MS have said they will have no generations. All games will be backwards and forwards compatible. Xbox One will be classed as the base model and Scorpio the high end. In 2 years time Scorpio 2 will be the high end, Scorpio mid tier and XB1 the low end (or get rid of XB1).
Having 2 or 3 different consoles will cater for a low entry price into the Xbox ecosystem, a powerful model for the hardcore fans and something inbetween.
Over time more models will be added and the weakest model discontinued.

You really think a console that releases in 2017 will have only 2tb less than a console in 2020 or so. Scorpio 2 will be at least 10tf, probably 12-14. But that's ok for the Scorpio to play 9th gen games as long as it's CPU is not jaguar or equivalent. Assuming 9th gen games are all 4K native and 60fps. Scorpio would have no problem playing the same games at 1080p/30fps.
9th gen will be very interesting because ps5 and Xbox could launch at the same time and be priced at 399-450 most likely. While Scorpio will likely be 250-300 by then and playing the same games. Microsoft will likely require Scorpio versions of games. even if ps5 comes the year before it should be ok for Microsoft because Scorpio will still be the cheapest way to play 9th gen games, and Scorpio 2 will be the most powerful way to play 9th gen.
Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)
halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)
x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

I thought xbox 2 coming in 2019 to be honest. If 2020, the 9th gen xbox will have around 10 tf I think. Still will make xbox scorpio relevant, they just need downsize rez/fps/textures/ect. Also, this is the whole point of UWP. Make one game for windows 10/xbox consoles and it will downscale automatically.

I think as soon as Scorpio 2 comes out Xbox one will no longer receive support. Could be sooner. If ps5 launches a yr before Scorpio 2 than the standard one could be discounted at that time. Games won't be able to scales from a 10-12 tf system to a 1 tf system unless the one is the lead console for development and that won't happen. You think Bethesda or whoever will be able to make a game for ps5, Scorpio, xbox one, and Scorpio 2 if it's out yet. Xbox one gunna get that shaft unless they are satisfied at 400p resolution but even then I don't think they will be able to get PS5 games to hit 30fps on Xbox one.
