Forums - Gaming - Ex-Ubisoft Dev: Direct ports from PS4/Xbox One to Nintendo Switch not possible

Crunching the numbers he's probably right ... 1.3 TFLOP (XBox One spec) is jut not going to scale easily down all the way to 160 gigaflops for the Switch (games have to run in the portable mode), even if you reduce the resolution down, you're still coming up short.

You're not going to be able to simply just dump a game onto Switch without significant modifications unless it's a game that barely taxes the PS4/XB1.

Another problem with AAA games. Kind of restricts where you can port them too.

But even still Nintendo needs to crank up the hardware to at least 1 terraflop or more.

Cranking up the docked version of the chip is easy ... the portable aspect of the system is where you get into problems because battery and cooling technology has not advanced as quickly and there are far more limitations there.

To get a 400-500 GFLOP chip inside a portable that runs for 3+ hours at full tilt without throttling and without becoming dangerously hot, you probably need a 10nm chip and that's simply not available today easily.

Where are you getting these 393 and 157 gflop figures from?

Eurogamer + Neogaf.

Nothing is confirmed until Nintendo or Nvidia reveal what the specs are, people.

Since when has Nintendo ever revealed hardware specs?

GameCube was the last time I think and that was 16 years ago.

What am i reading ? You think nintendo will put a 200 dolars console ? 250 ? AHAHAH

Also this is a forum, everyone have the right to comment. Is that so hard to think there is people who dont buy nintendo systems but wants them to have sucess?

All the things point to another WiiU situation and another cycle will continue.

I wouldn't laugh so strong when 250$ seems the most plaussible situation right now, also i hope you realize that to suggest Switch is gonna sell like WiiU is actually the most laughable part.

I'm not seeing the 393 and 157 gflop figures in this.

They're taken from the clock speeds since we know a Maxwell Tegra X1 chip at full clock is 500 GFLOPS maximum.

Neogaf calculated from the spec the figure. Check neogaf thread. Lots of interesting discussion there.

Honestly, it's possible to have good looking Mobile/Tablet games if the effort is put in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMpYwr-N4BQ

So I'm not really too worried about how nice the games will look on the Switch. What would put the cherry on top for me at this point is Persona 5 on Switch, then I can cancel my PS3 pre-order lol.

Cool. That just means it will be a Nintendo quality VIDEO GAME console and not saturated with all the worthless "AAA" mainstream shovelware olive drab explosion simulators.
