I'm sorry but most Playstation gamers have been kept satisfied enough to not switch to PC.  In fact most of my R6 and BF buddies are ex pc heads.

Your friends are not the norm, I only see people constatly switching to PC, I'm glad you are happy with your PS4 but many of us saw:

- "Free" internet for multiplayer
- Huge catalogue with eternal retrocompatibility
- Steam sales  (that can make a 60$ game be like...15?)
- Better performance, graphics and scalability options
- Upgradable hardware
- Huge Mod scene
- Almost every multiplatform
- Keyboard and mouse configuration (the best by far to play any first person game, simulator, RTS or graphic adventure)
- Good exclusives (Civilization VI, Cities Skyline, Pillars of Earth, Grim Dawn...)
- Best and most varies selection of indies (including exclusives diamonds like Owlboy or Undertales)

Is hard to come back from that imo, but everyone is happy with different things.

Ps4 sales say otherwise.  It's such a God like experience in such a small, convenient and cheap box.  For those who want to spend $250 or less on their machine the ps4 is just too good to turn down.

And it will only get better with the ps5.

They're indie games, when 1,000s of them are unleashed on Steam every year there's bound to be a percentage with great scores. Recent top scoring PC exclusives seem to be: Owlboy, Candle Burly Men at Sea, Shu, Planet Coaster, GoNNer, Creepy Castle, Wuppo etc

I only know heard about 2 of those games.

Actually would be a fun game, to guess how many top scoring pc games you can recognize lol.

Owlboy is one of the most beautiful games of the year, gameplay-wise not the masterpiece some had hoped it seems (afaik, these hopes were based on year-long development and gorgeous visuals), but a very good game acc. to owners. Bought it a few days ago, looking forward to playing it. I wouldn't be surprise if this beauty of a game will be ported to consoles/handhelds (that's what I would do if I was the developer).

Planet Coaster seems to be good as well (and the autumn hit on PC this year, it already has sold around 400.000 copies within 1 month after release - provided Steamspy figures are reliable). I'm personally not interested in this one despite being a fan of building/managerial sims, but good for the many fans of the predecessors.

Candle was already on my Steam wishlist before it was released. I'm pleasantly suprised that it turned out a really good game acc. to reviewers and buyers, i.e. I will actually buy it some day and not remove it from my wishlist (that's what I usually do when a game that looks good turns out to be sub-par).

Burly Men at Sea caught my interest some weeks ago but I won't buy it at this price. This is one of the rare cases for an indie game where I wait for a pricecut of at least 50%. I won't pay 10€ for a game without gameplay (same goes for the overprized Japanese VNs on Steam).

I had never heard of Shu (also on PS btw), GoNNer, Creepy Castle and Wuppo. Thanks for mentioning them, I just looked them up, all 4 look fun, especially Wuppo caught my interest, will watch some more gameplay videos of this, but there's already a chance I'll be buying it.

By the way: You forgot Civilization VI, one of the biggest and best PC exclusives of the year (and my most-played new game), it will sell millions of copies over the next 5+ years until Civ VII. Tyranny (by Obsidian Entertainment afaik) is another recent release that was embraced by reviewers and gamers.

OK.

*Grabs The Last Guardian disc and puts it in the laptop's driver
*Installshield does not appear
*Realizes he is stupid
*Goes back playing The Last Guardian on the best system that currently is on the market

Pretty sure my PC isn't on the market right now. That one is mine and not for sale.

Let's see how Halo Wars 2 does before we make the assumption on how well RTS games tend to interest console gamers, pretty sure the first Halo Wars did okay, otherwise it wouldn't have warranted a sequel.

Smaller games like Sanctum, Defense Grid did alright as well.

Tom Clancy's: End War took advantage of voice recognition to lend a hand in gameplay that worked fairly well.

Then you have the "God" RTS games like Black and White on PC. In my opinion a massively missed opportunity by Microsoft not to bring that franchise to the Xbox 360/Xbox One. Kinect would have been amazing for it, it might have even changed peoples opinions on Kinect.

Half the problem I think though with many of these Genre's is that Developers simply haven't figured out a way on how to translate them well over to console from PC yet... For example, console First Person shooters used to be the laughing stock of the entire gaming industry untill Halo burst onto the scene and did FPS right for the first time. (Golden Eye and Perfect Dark was great. But the PC still had the edge.)

As for MOBA's. Well. Overwatch sort-of falls into the category as it takes elements of a MOBA and packages it as an FPS. It sold millions, so obviously there is demand if it's a game that is done right on console, plus Battleborn despite all it's cons and it's rapid population decline sold millions as well.

***

You are right there are TBS games on consoles, but they are also not in the same league as Civilization, Settlers or Heroes of Might and Magic, this is the PC's Forte'. Always has. Always will, the PC has higher quality exclusives in this Genre and more of them.

***

As for Simulation... You have "Simulators" like Sim City, the Sims, Cities Skyline and then "Space Simulators" which take the scope a little farther out. Like Star Citizen.
Those Genre's are in a pretty pitiful state on console...

I always said that Microsoft needed to resurrect the Freelancer franchise and bring it to the Xbox 360, it is a game that can translate to a console controller fairly well... And then Star Citizen happened which just reaffirmed the idea that demand existed.

The PC has the most expensive MMO ever made. Also has the MMO with the most gamers. Also has the most MMO's and the highest quality MMO's.
Here is a list of almost a few hundred, majority on PC.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massively_multiplayer_online_role-playing_games

Basically Real Time Strategy, Turn Based Strategy, Massive Multiplayer Online, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, Sims, Space Simulators on console just aren't up to the same quality as the PC. And that is perfectly fine.

Controller vs Keyboard+Mouse is completely personal preference. I am happy to use both. I have USB PS2+Xbox 360+N64+SNES+Gamecube controllers for my PC.
Most games will allow you to remap the buttons to a gamepad, Steam in big picture mode is perfect on a controller and a TV.

The only issue I see is with Multiplayer games, you will always be beaten by a Keyboard and Mouse. Always. Controllers are slower and less accurate, that doesn't make them bad however.

First, I disagree that the console TBS games are not in the same league as the ones you mentioned. I mean how was the last Heroes of Might and Magic or Settlers compared to the past few Disgaea? I know Civ is well regarded but so is Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, X-Com, Valkyria Chronicles. Btw, just saw that Civ 2 was on the PS1.

As for MMOs, Warcraft is past its prime - I thought it had terrible gameplay, btw. Of the recent ones, FFXIV, Neverwinter and Elder Scrolls Online are all on consoles.

You're happy to use both forms of control. To me KB+M are only good for working and general browsing. I hate using them for gaming. Controllers are way more fun to use - it feels better in the hands, feels tighter to use. A touchscreen is more precise and faster than KB+M - doesn't make it fun to play that.

Ultimately, me not gaming on PC = missing on a couple of genres that I don't enjoy. If I were not gaming on consoles, then I'd be missing out on the greatest games, simple as that.

Nah I am good on consoles. Every time I thought about it, the laziness kicked in. ps4 and xb1 are more than enough for me.

Red Dead Redemption 2.
