Let's see how Halo Wars 2 does before we make the assumption on how well RTS games tend to interest console gamers, pretty sure the first Halo Wars did okay, otherwise it wouldn't have warranted a sequel.
Smaller games like Sanctum, Defense Grid did alright as well.
Tom Clancy's: End War took advantage of voice recognition to lend a hand in gameplay that worked fairly well.
Then you have the "God" RTS games like Black and White on PC. In my opinion a massively missed opportunity by Microsoft not to bring that franchise to the Xbox 360/Xbox One. Kinect would have been amazing for it, it might have even changed peoples opinions on Kinect.
Half the problem I think though with many of these Genre's is that Developers simply haven't figured out a way on how to translate them well over to console from PC yet... For example, console First Person shooters used to be the laughing stock of the entire gaming industry untill Halo burst onto the scene and did FPS right for the first time. (Golden Eye and Perfect Dark was great. But the PC still had the edge.)

As for MOBA's. Well. Overwatch sort-of falls into the category as it takes elements of a MOBA and packages it as an FPS. It sold millions, so obviously there is demand if it's a game that is done right on console, plus Battleborn despite all it's cons and it's rapid population decline sold millions as well.

You are right there are TBS games on consoles, but they are also not in the same league as Civilization, Settlers or Heroes of Might and Magic, this is the PC's Forte'. Always has. Always will, the PC has higher quality exclusives in this Genre and more of them.

As for Simulation... You have "Simulators" like Sim City, the Sims, Cities Skyline and then "Space Simulators" which take the scope a little farther out. Like Star Citizen. Those Genre's are in a pretty pitiful state on console...
I always said that Microsoft needed to resurrect the Freelancer franchise and bring it to the Xbox 360, it is a game that can translate to a console controller fairly well... And then Star Citizen happened which just reaffirmed the idea that demand existed.

The PC has the most expensive MMO ever made. Also has the MMO with the most gamers. Also has the most MMO's and the highest quality MMO's. Here is a list of almost a few hundred, majority on PC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massively_multiplayer_online_role-playing_games
Basically Real Time Strategy, Turn Based Strategy, Massive Multiplayer Online, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, Sims, Space Simulators on console just aren't up to the same quality as the PC. And that is perfectly fine.

Controller vs Keyboard+Mouse is completely personal preference. I am happy to use both. I have USB PS2+Xbox 360+N64+SNES+Gamecube controllers for my PC. Most games will allow you to remap the buttons to a gamepad, Steam in big picture mode is perfect on a controller and a TV.
The only issue I see is with Multiplayer games, you will always be beaten by a Keyboard and Mouse. Always. Controllers are slower and less accurate, that doesn't make them bad however.

First, I disagree that the console TBS games are not in the same league as the ones you mentioned. I mean how was the last Heroes of Might and Magic or Settlers compared to the past few Disgaea? I know Civ is well regarded but so is Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, X-Com, Valkyria Chronicles. Btw, just saw that Civ 2 was on the PS1.
As for MMOs, Warcraft is past its prime - I thought it had terrible gameplay, btw. Of the recent ones, FFXIV, Neverwinter and Elder Scrolls Online are all on consoles.
You're happy to use both forms of control. To me KB+M are only good for working and general browsing. I hate using them for gaming. Controllers are way more fun to use - it feels better in the hands, feels tighter to use. A touchscreen is more precise and faster than KB+M - doesn't make it fun to play that.
Ultimately, me not gaming on PC = missing on a couple of genres that I don't enjoy. If I were not gaming on consoles, then I'd be missing out on the greatest games, simple as that.
