They said they're willing to increase those numbers if the demand is there. The thing is, Wii U did 1 million in each of the big 3 regions rather quickly, within the end of the year from release if I'm not mistaken, so they kind of have to at least do 3 mil. I just hope they mean it. And Nintendo, you should be taking pre-orders right now or immediately after the switch event to prepare and to gauge how many units have to be at launch.

Holiday vs. Non-Holiday launch. Nintendo is big on younger kids, prime Christmas audience.
Their natural sales would be lower when not launching during Holiday season. Relax.

They shipped 3 million Wii U´s in the hollyday season. Now they are shipping 2 million in March, just to sell those in that single month.
