Forums - Microsoft - Scorpio to be $399???

I think it's quite hard too see Scorpio outselling the Pro. The PS4 sells much more, the tendency will remain.

Yes, I don't know why anybody would expect anything else.  That's like a strawman argument.
PS has stronger global brand, and being more expensive does not help.
That doesn't mean it can't be a relative success for MS.

It's 4 years after the PS4 ... why wouldn't dramatically better chips be available?
4 years is a long time in tech cycles guys, the chips you can get for the same cost 4 years later is night and day.

The relevant difference is not 4 years, it is 1 year from Slim and Pro.  Scorpio is set to be using same 14nm process.
That process has gotten more mature and efficient in that time, but Sony is also benefitting from that.
So there just isn't a difference in cost structure there, while MS is promising more GPU transistors, RAM, etc.
Which all costs more vs. less transistors, RAM at the same process.  $50 may be tight, $100 easily but with good bundles?

Now hopefully they give up on delivering "real 4K all the time", and use power for checkerboard @ 60fps, better FX, etc.

There will obviously be different priced models. I believe there will be a budget version like a $399. Maybe a 500gig model etc.

A device that has a 6TF gpu alone for $399(not including CPU or any other tech it is supposed to have jam packed into it)...kk Pachter. I think Microsoft could get away with $600, maybe $550.

i agree with him

Well if Microsoft can , why not. So PS4 pro can have 250 to 300 USD price drop then everybody win.

Agree, maybe $50 more. End of 2017 the tech will be old and outdated, won't be expensive. Although, What's the last point for choosing tech to go into a console before production?

I think 449$ is more likely.

I wouldn't doubt it. I don't think it would be sold at a profit, but as it has an extra year against the Pro it can pack a lot of cost reductions.

It's quite probable that Sony will be able to cut the price of the Pro by at least 50 bucks. If MS opts for 500 dollars, they will have quite a premium tag to justify. I know, better graphics and such, but that's it. 4K Blu-Ray is a niche thing that won't secure a lot of sales, Blu-Ray is completely dead and everyone would rather buy digital copies or just stream it. With just 50 bucks of difference they would at least have a fighting chance.

If Sony manages to cut the Pro to 300 dollars (which is hard), then nothing else matters and Scorpio is DOA.

People buying Scorpio are buying it because of power. Same with Pro. It doesn't matter if Pro is cheaper. It's weaker. People will pay a premium for it.

If people are paying for power and are willing to pay a premium, wouldn't they buy a gaming PC?

$400 it will sell, any higher and it will probably only be the hardcore Xbox fans buying it.

Joking about Patcher is a tradition, you just can't ignore it!
Patcher talks, we joke, life continues, dunno what happen if we don't!

True! The world would probably implode if we stopped!
