i think the sales of resistance won't be close to gears 2 but it won't be far off. resistance only had a few million install base to deal with, due to it being a launch title, so sales weren't going to be spectacular even if it tried. gears was a title released for the holidays, when sales are usually high. if it wasn't for the holidays, gears wouldn't have sold so much in my opinion.

oh and rocketpig, gears of war was bundled in europe too.

 Yes that is true. Gears Of War Limited Edition 360 pack was available in UK. I think for about 2 months.

Ah, I didn't realize that. Still, a 2 month bundle in the third largest market is a lot different than the US/Europe bundle Resistance enjoyed for quite some time.

it was a christmas bundle though, so a lot of those bundles were sold, in comparison to when the resistance bundles were released.

i live in the uk and there is no such bundle with woolworths, i really don't know where you heard or saw that. and that wouldn't mean anything, it's woolworths. they aren't really signinficant in the grand scheme of things.

Gears of War 2 will sell more than Gears 1. I guarentee it.

There are few, if any major FPS/TPS titles for the end of 2008. Gears is now a mega franchise, and is still selling rather well (still selling ~10k/wk worldwide, at $60 a unit in the US, still).

It's bad logic to say "oh, it'll just live in the shadow of the former game" - Why? H2 didn't live behind H1, COD4 didn't live behind COD3, why buck the trend now?

When you have a major IP such as GOW, the 2nd will sell more. Most every franchise has.

Mark my words: GoW2 will sell atleast 5m copies in the same timespan that GOW1 sold under 4m. It'll hit 6m or more.
