Forums - Nintendo - Why the Nintendo Switch's hardware specs don't worry me

Personally to be honest, I think this is so far removed from the idea of a traditional console that Nintendo could actually also support the XBox or Playstation brands (much like they now support iOS and Android with software) if they really wanted to.

Switch is basically the continuation of the Nintendo portable heritage with the bonus option of being able to play on a TV.

Nintendo's console lineage kinda dies with the Wii U I feel. They tried I guess, but 3/4 console generations ranging from dissapointment to flat out disaster ... was probably too much. Too many mistakes made, and the market has been transferred to Sony/MS entirely (home console gaming) pretty much.

The reasoning could go both ways: one could reason Nintendo's handheld lineage dies with the Switch since handheld gaming seems to be consumed more and more by smart phone games.

Well if their portable line dies/declines massively, then Nintendo was as a hardware maker was screwed either way.

Nintendo has won just as many home console generations as Sony. lol

Spec's stopping concerning me around the time of the gamecube. Before that the N64 was all about the specs. I trust the craftsmen to do their job well. The exciting part is getting it into my hands where I can see for myself the kinds of experiences they cooked up.

As long as the Switch is profitable, Nintendo will continue doing their thing.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new stuff that could be coming the Switch's way as well as the GameCube games I never got around to playing back in the day.

For how many generations have this power issue been discussed?
The mass market doesn't care for who has the best graphics. They want the best games.

We are the vocal minority who think that power is what matters the most.

I look at Zelda on Switch working perfectly; i look at companies like EA, Take-Two and Bethesda supporting Switch after the Wii U fiasco and i think that Nintendo has gotta be doing something right for that support to happen.
Come January 12th/13th, everyone will forget about this and will be reminded - again - of what truly matters: games.

And laughing, and having a good time. If you can't make fun of your own favorite brand.... you know.

Then you probably place too much of your own self-worth on the box that sits under your television.

I think it's more the people who get insulted by me making fun of Nintendo have that problem. ;)

Those were different times. The mass market is happy to play smartphone games the more their lives get more complex as they get older.

The core gamers who truly love gaming want power and have always wanted the best.

I just realized me and half of this site is not a core gamer that truly loves gaming, oh well

I'm going to wait for the official numbers, but I'm still on the fence with this :p

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I'm not one to jump the gun on most things beyond games like Smash, Pokemon, Zelda, and Mario since I expect them to do well. I've never assumed anything for consoles either. For me, let the Switch prove itself in Janauary before we come crashing down on Nintendo. How efficient can the main concept work? What other features will it have? What games will we see, what will they look like, and how will they work on Switch? Let them show and not have others tell. Whether a rumor is right or wrong, it's all on execution.
