Why would be $199 when New 3DS XL is still selling solid at that price!? Switch is not just handheld or just home console, its both in one out of box, you even controllers for local multiplayer out of box. Saying that Switch has to have price like New 3DS XL doesnt make sense, Switch has much higher value than New 3DS XL in any case.

Nintendo make disguesting amounts of profits on hardware.

They could probably sell the New 3DS XL at 99$ and still make profit of it, guess their pocketing 100$+ on each sale of New 3DS XL.

Im not sure thats going to work with the Switch.

299$ seems to much for this.

*edit:

I said the same about the PS4 slim.

When it launched at 299$, I was saying "damn this should have launched at 249$".

Look what happend, sales where slow.

Then christmas comes and they lower price to 249$ and sales go crazy.

Hardly they making 100% profit on 3DS. Actually I don't think they could sell Switch on launch at $200 at profit, just look at those Switch patent and what all Nintendo paced in Switch and how many functions and possibilities Switch has, also it coming with dock and Joy Grip and Joy Cons.

$249 looks like perfect and very reasonable price point for Switch and all its represents, $299 can be with one game and more storage (like rumours are pointing).

There always christmas deals for consoles, that relly doenst tells anuthing...

$249 or more is DOA imo. But then again you are right about the 3DS XL selling.

Could someone update on the latest rumors about its power? How strong will it be compared with an Xbone in docked mode?

If it's less than 50% of Xbone I'm not buying one.

Then wait and see if you want it or not

That's what I'm doing :p

Why? In terms of support & quality of software, do you really think there will be a huge difference if Switch is 1/3 the power of XBO rather than 1/2?

The Wii-U CPU is much faster than the ultra low power ARM Switch CPU for sure. And this is a huge problem, even though Zelda looked fine because the overall CPU+GPU performance is better.

But all X1 / PS4 games need to be downgraded.

it's definitely low on my priority list to be fair, I will probably wait till year 2

Waiting until there`s games you want on it does sound like the best move, for any console really.

Source: Everyone who bought a PS3 to play Final Fantasy Versus XIII

or pretty much any buyer of a console during the first year. Drought City almost always.

I am NOT a graphics person at all, I am not a power person... but I am a money saving person!

We all read about the dissapointing information about the Nintendo Switch's power....and its not good at all. ITS AROUND WII U LEVEL infact aaannnd that's not good at all. But thats what throws me off abit. Like despite the games, its a little upgrade for the console and a DOWNGRADE if you take it out of the dock. I'll admit, I wanted the Switch to ATLEAST top the Xbox One S console but damn, it's barely topping its PREVIOUS console? It's dissapointing.

Why the power effects my purchase: Why would I buy Splatoon and Mario Kart for full price all over again? I don't see any other games I want yet beside those 2 (The delays sorta ruined Breath of the Wild for me) and when the graphics are the same and a little more dlc? I don't really care for the handheld tablet idea either. I bought a New 3DS XL this year and I barely use it. I got it because I had money, and 3DS is great handheld and I wanted to keep a 3ds handheld forever. So I bought the new 3ds xl.

I  just can't imagine myself buying slightly more powerful console when theres not much of a difference.

What will make me buy a Nintendo Switch: The games. The games will always be the reason I'll buy a new console. I do plan on getting the Switch when the great new Nintendo games comes out, but as of right now no Switch games interests me and we'll have to wait and see what they come out with at launch line up.

It looks like 2017 is another year of PS4. Looks like I'll get the PS4 Pro over the switch this year. (I have a 4K screen and i'm taking advantage of it, thats why im getting the Pro)

It's your money and some of your concerns are legitimate. If you don't have a PS4 *and* you have a 4K TV, I think you kinda gotta look at that (or Scorpio).

My son loves Nintendo games, Pokemon and Zelda in particular, and I like most Nintendo pillar franchises as well (minus Pokemon). He likes handheld gaming while I prefer playing Nintendo games on home consoles. So there was never any doubts that I'd buy the Switch.
